I have never cried like that ever, I ended up falling asleep on the bed. Thabang woke me up so that I can eat, I was surprised to see him here when I woke up. He said he was worried about me and couldn't leave me alone. i don't know how I feel about crying like a child in front of everyone but my heart feels less heavy. Like a load was lifted up from my shoulders. "Good morning, how are you feeling?" Thabang asks as he walks in "You are still here?" I ask He nods. "Where else would I be?" He asks At work. "You need to eat something..." Thabang says "I also need to go to school..." I add "You'll go tomorrow, I call your principal. " he answers I don't want to get comfortable and even skip school. I need good marks so that I can apply to varsity and be accepted with no problems. But it has only been two days, so I will use today to get myself together. Thabang looks like he's deep in thought. "Is everything okay?" I ask "Yes, that reminds me. Who is Taki?" He asks Shit! "She's Vusi's brother...she left" I answer "The one who contacted me and reached out for help?" He asks I nod. It's been a week, I have managed to get my head straight and focused on my studies. Vusi has been studying with me and he always looks more focused than ever, surprisingly. "So you managed to apply af Medunsa?" He asks "Yes, but I want to go to Wits more. How about you?" I ask "I don't know, maybe UCT or anywhere far from Khathu." He answers "Why? I thought you were conflicted about your feelings with her." I say "No I'm not, I am in love with her. But she is not, she wants to be this and that and then get married and live happily ever after." Vusi answers annoyed "Maybe she wants that with you..." I say He shakes his head. "No, she doesn't. She looks at me like the guy who slept with her sister, with a smile on her face like she is over it but that's not something you just forget and be okay with. I'm sure she hates me, and I don't blame her." Vusi answers We stop at the spaza shop. "I want to get energy drink, you want." I ask He nods. I enter. I greet Ali at the entrance then take two cans of energy drink then walk to the counter. "Hi" it's Phindulo's voice from behind I turn and face her. We haven't spoken ever since our breakup and I thought she hated me. "Hey, are you okay?" I ask She smiles at me. "I'm good thanks and you?" Her "I'm good thanks..." I don't why I looked outside but just by seeing the same car, I'm annoyed. "Here's your change" Ali says I take my money and walk out, I find Vusi on his phone. "I will be there..." he says then hang up "What's up?" I ask "Khathu is experiencing some serious pains, so they're taking to the hospital. " he answers "Then we need to go now" I say now walking past him "You need to rest man, you can use a good sleep. I will call you later..." Vusi says following me "No, I'm fine. I will rest when we get back. " I say He shakes his head but keeps quiet, we find his parents already outside locking up the gate. "Dad..." Vusi says as he walks to his father "Are you boys coming with us?" His father asks "Yes sir" I answer "Then let's not waste any time." He says now walking to the driver's seat Vusi and I get in the back. The drive is quiet and I can see that Vusi is getting anxious as we approach the hospital.
We get to the hospital then walk to the martenity ward, Vusi's father walks to the nurses. I'm left with Vusi and his mother, everyone is quiet waiting for an update. Vusi's father walks back to us. "She is in labor..." he says "Let's sit here and wait for her family " Vusi's mother suggests We all sit, but Vusi remains standing. "Vusani, she is going to be fine" his mother says to him "Can I be with her?" He asks looking at his mother Khathu's family joins us. Khuliso is here too, with a bag. "Thanks for coming" the pastor "How is she?" Vusi asks "She is heavily sedated but she is fine..." Khathu"s mother answers "And the baby?" Vusi's mother asks "The baby...they're doing all they can to make sure she survives." Khathu's father "It's a girl?" Vusi asks I can't tell if he is in shock or scared. The pastor nods. "Can I see Khathu?" Vusi asks "She is very weak..." her father answers "Please, I am begging you" Vusi pleads Khathu's father looks at her mother then back at Vusi. He nods. "Follow me" Khathu's mother says then leaves us Everyone sits down, I don't know what is going on but I know Vusi is scared of something. "She is going to be okay..." Khathu's father says then sits besides me There's silence for a minute or so, Khuliso sits down beside her father. Khathu's mother walks back to us. "How is she?" Her father asks She smiles. "The baby is okay and she's with her parents. She is so beautiful..." she says with tears falling on her face I can't help but smile too, the thought of Vusi being a father puts a smile on my face. The news brought smiles on everyone's face. "Although I don't think Vusi will be leaving her alone anytime soon, they might have to drag him out" Khathu's mother says then we laugh My eyes meets Khuliso and to my surprise she is in tears, she looks sad but quickly wipe her face as she realizes that I'm looking at her. She gets up and walk out. "I can't wait to hold her" Vusi's mother "Relax, you have all the time for that" Vusi's father answers We laugh. I walk out and find Khuliso standing holding herself. Like she is protecting herself from something, I stop beside her. She knows I'm here but she doesn't look at me but look at an empty parking spot. "Are you okay?" I ask She cries, now squeezing herself with her hands. I don't know what to say or do but I'll let her feel. "I am a bad person ain't I, for hurting my sister and wishing her baby dies so that I can be with Vusi?" She asks still not looking at me Wow! "I can't be there and pretend to be happy, but I love Vusi and I can't see him with anyone else..." she says She smiles and look at me, then nods a few a times. "You get it don't you?" She asks I shake my head. "With Phindulo, if you do love her like I love Vusi you would do anything for her right?" She asks "What are you asking me Khuliso?" I ask confused She wipes her tears and look away. "Nothing..." she answers She looks at her hands then back at an empty space. "We need to see the new baby" She smiles at me then walk past me What was that all about?

I walk back and find everyone seated and laughing, including Khuliso. I get seated and join in the baby conversation, after a while Vusi joins us. He seems different from how he left but not happy. "How is the baby?" His father asks "She is sleeping" he smiles "Can we see her?" Khuliso's mother asks "Yes..." Vusi answers I don't know how these ladies got up but they're now on their way to see the baby. The pastor and Vusi's father are walking behind them chatting and laughing. Vusi looks like he's deep in thought, but then turn and look at Khuliso. She was looking at him, but walks past me in a rush. But Vusi holds her arm...she stops then looks at him. "What?" She asks looking at him Vusi doesn't say anything but let's her go then walk past me, I follow him outside. "What was that all about?" I ask as he stops beside his father's car. "Khathu doesn't want me..." Vusi answers That's not what I'm talking about. "I meant with you and Khuliso...what was that Vusi?" I ask He looks at me. "I just told you that I just lost Khathu, I knew after giving birth I'll only be part of Mashudu's life not hers. I want to be with her, I messed up with Khuliso but I want a second chance...I mean she can't just ask me to leave like this doesn't matter." He stops then looks away "I'm sorry..." I say My head is still processing what I just saw. We stand in silence for a while until Vusi decides to go and buy food for everyone. "I don't know what to do with you" Vusi looks at me "That girl just waved at you and you pretended like you didn't see her" Vusi I look behind me and I see two girls talking. "I didn't see them" I protest "You were just looking at her not them" Vusi clarifies "I am sure, but my mind was elsewhere." I answer He shakes his head. "And why are we talking about a girl again?" I ask "Because we are teenagers" he answers "We didn't talk about Khuliso, but now we are talking about a girl? When did we start being teenagers?" I ask annoyed Vusi looks at me then keeps walking in silence. "Promise me you won't tell a soul" he says I'm not sure I want secrets. "Are you still sleeping with Khuliso?" I ask "The heck, no. I am done with Khuliso, and that's not what I wanted to tell you. Why are you even guessing, you are bad at it" Vusi answers "Then what is it?" I ask "Khuliso pushed Khathu, she hit the brick wall..." "What?" I exclaim "Yes, obviously Khathu told her parents she didn't see who pushed her but she did and it was her sister. I don't know if Khuliso was trying to kill Khathu or my baby, but all I can say is, I don't want her anywhere near my child." Vusi says "Even Khathu is not safe, what did you do to her?" I ask "Please don't..." Vusi warns "I am still puzzled" I confess "She's crazy, trying to kill her own sister for what?" He asks "For you, all these is for you. I mean you say She is crazy Vusani, but not so long ago you were conflicted about your feelings for Khathu. I hate saying this, but you made her like this." I say "That's rich coming from you Ndavhe" Vusi says then stops walking. "What does that mean?" I ask "Where is Taki? Maybe you have forgotten about her so it is fine. Where is Phindulo, what is she doing now, dating blessers and for some reason you have nothing to do with it?" Vusi asks now angrily "Phindulo understood where we stand" I protest "And Taki too. They both did know how disposable everyone is to you." He walks past me What does that mean?
