She grit at me then smiles as if she didnt just drop the bombshell a minute ago.
"Why are you lying?" I ask angrily
"I am your mother Ndavhe..."
"Shut the fuck up" i cut her off
She looks at Thabang, then back at me.
"Where are the keys?" She asks Masindi
"Who the hell are you?" Masindi asks Ndinae
"I have already told you Masindi. I am Ndinae Matidze, Oluga and Ndavheleseni's biological mother." Ndinae answers
"How do you know Livhuwani?" Masindi asks
Thabang looks at her, "why do you care?"
She looks at him and dismiss his question.
"How do you know her?" She asks Thabang who just gives her a blank stare
"And how do you know my father?" I ask Ndinae who has her eyes on Oluga whose now seated silently beside her.
"He was my first love...then your mother came along. And i was forced to accept that reality. That i had to give you up to him..." Ndinae explains
She looks at me like she's thinking about something, but looks down at Oluga again.
"Oluga was the second chance I got at love, but that too didn't end well." she smiles at Thabang who is now expressionless looking at Ndinae
"What are you insinuating?" Masindi asks
Ndinae is still looking at my brother, she is no longer saying anything but somehow consumed by her own thoughts.
"That I am Oluga's father?" Thabang asks
Ndinae looks at me for a minute.
"That he shot me three times and left me for me dead..." She emphasize each word making even more sharper than it already is.
"What?" I ask astonished
"After your father i drowned, and i found myself in the arms of an egomaniac, selfish and ambitious motherfucker. Who i ended up falling head over heels in love with and he tried to kill me." Ndinae
I look at Thabang, who's face i cant explain.
"All this time you pretended not to know her" Masindi says
"I didn't remember her..." Thabang says
"For someone you shot, i would at least expect you to remember." Masindi angrily
Thabang looks at her then swallow.
"It is not something i am proud of..." He says to Masindi
"She almost ruined my life, teaming up with my rival to destroy everything I've ever worked for. The only reason why i didn't recognize her is because back then she was drug addict, with a tomboy attitude always looking for the next man to fuck up his life." Thabang explains to Masindi
"What does that mean?" Masindi asks
Thabang looks at Ndinae.
"How do you know her ex-husband?" He asks
"He was involved with my sister, tried to trick her into running off with my diamonds. I tried to get them back but instead she ran off to my ex, your father claiming that i was going to kill her." she explains
"Did you kill her?" I ask
She looks at me, then at Masindi who looks like she's gonna cry.
"No, her lover did. Seems like he loved the diamonds more than her." Ndinae smiles at me
What's amusing about that?
"Then who buried the briefcase?" Thabang asks
"Me and your father, cleaning up the murder that your ex-husband left a mess in their house. Obviously your mom was going to come back from work and ask your father who did it and my name would've pooped up...she would've died of a heartache like she did now." She explains
I don't understand if she is still trying to mess with me or what, but i don't like her face because you cant tell the difference.
"I don't believe you" i confess
She exhales.
"I expected that..."
"You expect me to believe that you also buried the briefcase full of diamonds?" I ask
"I did, i was running at the time from both your ex-husband and current husband Masindi. Not only from that but also from the cartel...they would've killed me."
Ndinae's phone rings interrupting the conversation, she answers it. She hangs up after few seconds and stand.
"I have to go, thank you for searching for my lost treasure. I will be back." She adds
"No one cares about that." Masindi gritted
Ndinae smiles at Masindi.
"My keys?" Ndinae hold out her hand to Masindi, who looks at me before giving Ndinae the keys.
She looks at me.
"Son..." She says
"Don't call me that..." I say
"My briefcase" she continue
I hand the briefcase to her, she takes it and gets on her knees while reaching for my brothers hand. Oluga looks at her for a bit then his eyes go from her to Masindi who looks torn by this moment.
"I will be back, and when i do I am not going anywhere without you." Ndinae
"Don't make such promises to him, i still don't believe a word you said and for all i know you are just a stranger pretending to be my mother. And you kidnapped my brother" I grit at her
She lets go of Oluga and walk to her car, she doesn't look back as she gets in and drive away.
Masindi rush to Oluga and take him in her arms.
"I love you so much, and I am so sorry for not being there to prefect you..." She says that still with her arms wrapped around my brother
