You may consider yourself like any man
Mundane, ordinary
But for me you're higher than
The rest -
Higher than me.
You're my cloud.
The one I've been chasing.
The one never changing.
For days on end
I would run to the river's bend
Intending to try and catch you
(My breaths often come to an end)
But off you go into the blue.
You're my cloud, I go -
The one I've been chasing
The one never changing
The one making me feel so low
I leap to you and even though
I never reach, I try again some more
And I crash back to the soil floor.
You're my cloud
The one I'd give my life for!
How long will I keep chasing?
This habit never changing -
My affection you keep taking!
You give me rain
I give it meaning.
You block the sun
Again, you start leaving,
And my world has come undone.
I decide my life is done.
To be with you lover, I now know
I must fly to the heavens
Yes, that's where I'll go!
And there we may reign.
We may snow, and we may rain.
I take my life for you.
My soul now fleeting.
To be with you, in the sky
My world will have meaning.
But I start to fly higher than you
You disappear from view-
View now becoming blurry-
Blurry scenes of white cover me-
Meanings turn to air.
Air is all I've become.
For no weatherman can determine
The forecast of losing oneself
Chasing clouds.
A habit meant for weathered men.
