[Man]
Lady friend of mine says to meet me for a drink.
Been a while since I've seen the lady in mink.
There she is sittin on a table,
Blue eyed face twirlin' a silver spoon,
Lord, does she look unstable.
Talks of a man holdin her down
Wipes her tears - she still
Wants him around.
Baby girl's got nowhere to turn now.
Speaks of lovin' her in the sun,
But when Luna calls that's where he will run.
And he runs.
Oh, does he run.
As she traces the table with the silver
This man starts to sound familiar.
[Woman]
And I know I shouldn't cry,
But holdin' on to this rosary,
Jesus I can't help but ask, why -
Do the loneliest women,
Let in the worst of men?
The look in your eyes,
Assures me that you know
Of the blues this lady cries.
[Man]
I do know of a man, who once made my sun rise.
If there's one thing, I know it's this advice-
The warmest heart can't melt a man's ice.
The man I speak of met
A boy willin' to do all he can,
But soon he left me a weathered man.
And I know I shouldn't cry,
But for the sake of my pride
I ask why-
If all my love's honest
Why keep me in your closet?
The look on your face
Assures me that you know
The blues I let pace.
[Cupid]
In the café "A la Blues"
Sits two lonesome fools
Talking of men whose
Love they cannot refuse.
But in comes another,
With a woman draped on his collar
She walks peacock feathered.
The lonesome fools now stand
With trembled tongues and pointed hands,
In tandem they say,
"That's the man!"
