Walking down the street, Miyako took no notice of the people surrounding her. She wandered around for a while without really having a destination.
The only thing that consumed Miyako's mind was the thought of Juuzou. She found that night replaying over and over, running around without short of breath, and it made Miyako herself uneasy.
She knew she had to stay away from him, but at the same time Miyako didn't want anything more than to hear his voice once more. Miyako's eyes widened slightly as she sucked in her breath.
Slowing her pace, she soon stopped altogether."M-Miyako?" A hesitant voice spoke from behind her. Miyako felt her heart skip a beat at the familiarity lingering in the air, almost as if it were de ja vu.
She slowly turned on her heel and looked at the boy now standing in front of her. She pursed her lips, as the wind picked up; blowing his scent directly to her. However this time, Miyako dared not breathe it in.
"It's been a while," The boy joked softly, his smile quickly dropping. "H-how are you?"
Miyako shifted her weight and bit her lip. She wanted to smile brightly and tell him she missed him, but her voice had left her all together. She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and looked at the ground.
"Yeah, I'm.." She choked to finish her sentence, and looked back up. Miyako needed to keep herself under control. She knew Juuzou was only doing what he thought was right, and the fact he had no idea Shadow Eagle and her were the same person.
Juuzou's eyes widened slightly and he took a short step forward. He wanted to reach out to Miyako, to draw her into him and to feel her warmth against his skin.
"Is everything okay?" Juuzou asked wearily. Miyako's eyes shifted towards him and she nodded her head. Clearing her throat, she felt herself smile.
"Yeah, sorry," She laughed lightly. "Things have just been..." Trailing off again Miyako couldn't help the lump form into her throat or the heat rising in her eyes. She looked down at the ground once more, giving into the sensation of her tears finally falling.
Without hesitation, Juuzou had walked up to Miyako and embraced her in his arms firmly. He didn't know why she was crying, and he had no intention on asking. Instead he held onto her, as if it were the last time they would see each other.
Miyako could feel her body temperature rise as she cried silently into Juuzou's tight grasp. It was unlike any hug she had been in, and it made her feel safe.
Neither of the two felt it right to speak, in fear of ruining the moment. Juuzou sucked in sharply as he felt Miyako's touch make contact with his back. She grasped tightly onto the back of his shirt and brought him closer to her body.
"Mi-"
"Don't speak." Miyako whispered, cutting off Juuzou. The tears still fell freely as Miyako opened up her eyes.
If this is what it felt like to look at a sunset, Juuzou didn't want anything more.
"Don't speak." Miyako repeated, sighing out. She stared out in front of her, gripping onto Juuzou even more tightly. A small smile spread over Juuzou's face as he looked down at Miyako.
Ever so slightly he ran his fingers through her hair, and rested his hand on her head. He knew all too well how much he was blushing, thanks to the ever rising heat in his cheeks.
Not that it bothered him, anyway.Miyako's eyes traced to the sky and she sniffed. She quickly drew back, having an idea.
"Come on, I want to show you something." She spoke, her hand falling into Juuzou's. She quickly tugged the boy along the pathway, picking up speed.
Juuzou allowed himself to be dragged by the eager girl holding his hand tightly, as they darted through the busy streets. He wasn't entirely sure where Miyako wanted to take him but he hoped somewhere meaningful.
Miyako was going to give him just that. She had made the boy a promise, and she was going to see it out. Finally making their way to their destination, Miyako pulled Juuzou into the building.
"Where are you going?" He spoke, laughter escaping through his words. Miyako didn't answer, and instead ran up a couple flights of stairs; Juuzou still in hand.
Throwing herself against a door, Miyako pushed it open and the two stepped out on the buildings roof. Finally letting go of Juuzou's hand, Miyako looked at him; short of breath.
"It's almost time." She breathed out, walking over to the edge. She slowly sat down and motioned Juuzou to join her.
He quietly made his way over to Miyako's side and looked out in front of him.The wind blew around them, and Juuzou bit his lip.
"Sit down." Miyako spoke, looking up at the boy. Juuzou turned his head to face Miyako, a small smile spreading. He did as he was told, throwing his legs over the side of the building.
"What's all this about?" He asked, putting his weight forward onto his hands. He kicked his legs slightly and cocked his head to the side, looking at Miyako curiously.
"You'll see." Miyako responded. Juuzou pouted and looked back out in front of him.
Silence feel between the two, and Miyako couldn't help the smile begin to form on her delicate features. She quickly looked down, hiding her face; although not sure why.
"You know it's funny," Miyako spoke, looking back up. "Silence sounds nicer when you're not alone."
"Hmm?" Juuzou turned to face her again, cocking an eyebrow.
"I mean I feel comfortable not talking. It's almost natural to me when I'm around you."
"Oh?"
"I-it's not a bad thing!" Miyako protested, her cheeks beginning to flush. Juuzou felt a smirk spreading over his mouth at Miyako's reaction.
Suddenly, Miyako grabbed onto Juuzou's arm.
"It's starting." She whispered, looking out in front of them. Juuzou's eyes trailed out to where Miyako was looking, and his eyes widened in awe.
Various shades of pinks began to flood the clouds around and in Juuzou's view, leaving the boy breathless. Hearing Miyako talk about this was one thing, seeing it for himself was something else entirely.
The mixture of soft purples slowly began to form amongst the oranges and the pinks, forming a galaxy of colour that swirled around Juuzou's amaranth eyes.
Miyako couldn't help but stare at Juuzou's reaction to the scene unfolding around them. He looked as if he himself was producing a light off of his body, and Miyako felt lost in his beauty.
"Is this a sunset?" Juuzou whispered, watching the sun make its way behind the horizon.
Before she knew what was happening, Juuzou had turned around to face Miyako; cupping her cheek in his hand. He brought his face to her quickly, and pressed his lips against hers.
The longing sensation Miyako had been feeling suddenly disappeared as she kissed Juuzou back, and she closed her eyes softly.
Juuzou pulled back, but only slightly."Thank you." He whispered, before cupping Miyako's face with both hands. He quickly kissed Miyako again, letting it linger as if it would be their last.
Miyako brought her hands up and around Juuzou's neck, bring him closer to her. Juuzou couldn't help but smile lightly as a small tear rolled down his cheek.
In that moment, nothing else mattered to him more than Miyako's presence. Not even the view of his very first sunset could make Juuzou feel the way he did towards the girl he was kissing.
"Thank you." He repeated, tears now flowing freely.
"Thank you, thank you. Thank you."
