The day had finally come, it was Friday. Only two days had passed since their call, but it felt like an eternity to Charlie. He didn't really feel like himself today. He was excited to see Nick, but he was tired. He'd been worrying about him all night and barely got any sleep. He'd been worrying about them as well. He and Nick. The perfect couple, who'd always stay together. Or at least that's what everyone always said.
Lately, Charlie hadn't been so sure about that. What if Nick didn't want to stay together forever? What if he's fed up with him? It sure sounded like he was. But, like, maybe Nick mightn't have been mad or sad at all. Perhaps he's just making things up.
Charlie wasn't the only one who'd been worrying about today. Nick was going through the exact same thing. They'd both been doubting themselves.
Ever since Nick woke up this morning he'd been feeling wired. While packing his bag, he came across a picture of Charlie and him. On the back of it was a small handwritten message. It was a present he got from Charlie once. It was just like he'd done that time they hadn't spoken to each other in two weeks because both of them thought the other wanted to break up. It was a cute little message. Every time he'd been feeling down he would pick up the card, stare at it and read the message. It felt like a big warm comforting hug.
Hi rugby lad,
Look at you doing so well in uni!!! I'm so extremely proud of you. I know that whatever comes to try and knock you off your feet, you'll be able to handle it. And if not, then I'm only a phone call away.
