(AN: This part of the story takes place 3 months prior to the first chapter of this story)
"CHARLIE OPEN THAT DOOR NOW!" Nick screamed. You could clearly hear the fear in his voice. It made his voice stutter a bit. He knows he's not supposed to scream at Charlie, hence it will only make things worse. But he couldn't help it. He needed Charlie to open that door, so he could look him in the eyes and see that he's safe.
"I can't...I can't...please help," a tiny voice said. "CHARLIE." Nick looks at Tao. They both don't know what to do or say.

It was about 16:45 when Nick got a call from Tao. Tao usually never calls, but Nick didn't think anything of it. "Hey Nick, did you talk to Charlie at all today?" Tao asks. "Yeah, we texted this morning. Why? Is everything alright?" "Well, Charlie and I were going to have a film night tonight, but he's not opening his door and he's not answering my calls." "You're kidding, right? You've got to tell me you're kidding Tao," Nick said panicking.
Situations like this had happened before and they never had a positive outcome. That's why, before Tao could answer, Nick had already taken his bag and coat and was rushing towards the train station. It was 17:04 by the time he arrived at the station. Just in time to catch his train. When he arrived - about an hour later - Tao was waiting for him outside their uni building. Both of them rushed towards Charlie's room.

Before any of them could say anything, Nick took a step back. His vision got blurry. Was he really going to do this? He could feel his breathing getting heavier. It had been him and Charlie for 5 years now. He'd been there for him on all of his stormy days and he needed to be there for him now. He couldn't lose him.
Nick did it without thinking. He acted out of pure panic and adrenaline. He threw his body onto the door, and to his surprise, managed to force it open. He barged into Charlie's room and found him sitting on the ground next to his bed. Charlie tried to hide his face by putting his head in his hands. Nick took his hands and that's when he saw. Charlie's arms were both covered in blood. Nick looked at Tao, who'd also entered the room, and signalled that he needed to go find something to clean up this mess with.
"Char..." Nick said, with tears in his eyes. He looked into Charlie's eyes and immediately pulled him into a tight hug. He held him like their lives depended on it. Like Charlie would vanish into thin air if he didn't hold him tight enough. "I'm sorry Nick...I didn't mean to, I swear." Charlie stuttered. "It's okay...I'm here. I'll always be here." Nick said and hugged Charlie even tighter. "I'm not going anywhere. I'm not leaving you until I know you're okay."
