I slam my phone on my bedroom floor. "Ugh!! I can't believe she likes some stupid new kid that she's only seen once in her life! He's probably a freakin duck hunter." I say frustrated under my breath.
I have really bad anger issues. One time when I was 4, my mom wouldn't get me the toy I wanted so I punched a hole in my bedroom wall.
"This Dylan kid better be worth it. She has only known him for like 5 minutes and she is already 'in love'. But she's known me for 10 years and still probably doesn't like me." I'm talking to myself as I pace back and forth in my room.
My mom suddenly barges in my room. I grab my car keys, ignoring that she walked in. I run out of the house and to my car. "TAYLOR GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW! YOU CANT JUST WALK OUT LIKE THAT!!" My mom is yelling at me so loud I bet the people 3 blocks away can hear her. But I just keep doing my thing. I start the car and pull out of the driveway. Ok I'm gonna go to Nic's house and maybe I can meet this Dylan dude. Or at least talk some sense into her.
I have always wondered why I talked to myself. I never knew why, and I still don't. Once in halfway there, I start to have a panic attack. "Oh God. My bandana doesn't match my outfit. Worst. Day. Ever. Then again, maybe she won't notice. She is my best friend after all, why would she care?"
I get to the red light in front of her house and see the dirty white jeep and black pick up truck at the new neighbors house. I turn down the street and park in her driveway. I look at her front door and my stomach sank. There was a tall boy with light brown hair standing at the door. He was wearing a black LSU snapback and black basketball shorts with camoflauge crew socks and Nike slides. That's Dylan.
I get out of the car and start walking to her door. That's when I realize, Nic is standing in the doorway talking to him. I instantly tense up and fill with anger. I don't like him already.
I quickly walk to the door, interrupting their conversation. "Hey Nicole." My voice clear and firm. Dylan's head whips around and looks me in the eyes. I turn to Nic. "Ummm." She chuckles in an angry sort of way. "Taylor what are you doing here?" "Maybe this is a bad time. I should just go..." Dylan says unsure about what is going on. "No no no! Stay here." Nic tells him with a smile.
I glare at Dylan and Nicole catches my dirty looks. "Look, Nic, I should really get going. This is a little awkward for me." He says still confused but concerned. He hands her a piece of paper and quickly walks away. Finally! I got what I wanted. That little redneck, girl stealing, douche left.
"Taylor Michael!! What was that about!" She said almost in a yell. "He was trying to steal you from me." "What is that supposed to mean?!" Her attitude is unbelievable. "I feel like you guys are gonna get close then you will forget me. You will forget all the nights we spent awake texting each other stupid selfies. You will forget all the days you skipped class just to see me. All the times that we stayed home from school just to sit on the couch and watch Netflix till we fell asleep. The truth is Nic, I've liked you 5 out of the 10 years I have know you. Yes, I've liked you since we were 10. And I never said anything because I knew you never liked me back anyways. So I figured I wouldn't waste my time asking if you didn't like me back. And-" she stopped me mid-sentence by putting her lips on mine. It happened. She just kissed me. Once she pulls away we both smile. Then she stops, like a deer caught in headlights and stares behind me. "Uhh, Taylor. I hate to leave everything like this but I really gotta go." Her words quick and connected. "What's wrong?" "I just realized how much homework I had. Sorry Tay, I will text you later." And with that, the door closed.
UGH! I knew I shouldn't have done that. She probably feels all awkward now. I'm so done with everything. I turn around and realize why all of that happened. Dylan. He was still in her driveway. He saw everything.
