In an instant, the three-headed dog lunged at Pearl's attacker, and despite the ice and sculk that attempted to impede Cerberus' path it continued to push on. Frustrated, Frost Warden knew what he had to do. It took an ungodly amount of energy, but it seemed worth it in his eyes.
With a flick of his wrist, Pearl doubled over, a sculk underling clinging onto the back of her cardigan. The wooden beast paused its attack, looking down at its leader worriedly. Then, the golem started to fall, the sculk previously on her back now gone, in its stead patches of sculk that began to consume her. Frost took a moment to breathe, almost about to heave with the amount of energy it used up. The sculk hivemind that lingered in his head would always mumble about different ways to get better at what he did, but he ignored them. He was in control, not them.
However, he wasn't going to get a break, as when he managed to get back onto his feet, a door in the back flew open, wind rushing past his cheek. Blood started to trickle down his face, touching where he felt the wind, and he could only sigh.
He turned around to see Stellar Sea and Shockwave at the doorway, groaning as Stellar created another arrow from thin air. "I really shouldn't have walked in so casually," he grumbled, rubbing his temple, "That idiot girl called the heroes, now I have to deal with you two..."
He then stopped himself, almost breaking into laughter when he notices Ixionid isn't there. "Hey, Bakugo, where's Mister Centaur?" He shouted, the thunderous hero laughing dryly.
"Yeah yeah, very funny. He offered to stay back, Elsa." Shockwave and Frost Warden could be seen as archenemies, less about their powers and more so the fact that they both seemed to hate their presence. No one was sure, even Stellar, who had stationed herself behind Shockwave, was confused about the insults that flew through the air faster than her arrows.
The sharpshooter took a glance around the sculk-ridden room, checking on the health of each individual. There were a few she recognized, two of those being Pearl and Gem, but Stellar made no reaction when she spotted the duo. However, the sculk that started to infect Pearl along with the fact that Ixionid had stopped communicating with her started to make her worry. Was there something bigger behind this simple news station raid?
She wasn't able to create an answer before she saw a snake stare into her eyes, the world falling into shadows around her.

When Ixionid spotted Pearl, her skin turning into the same hue as the sculk parasite, he knew he needed help. Not help from another hero, but someone else.
He called one of the interns to back up Stellar - his name was Deko or something along those lines - and headed to the elevator. Tapping the number 7 twice before pressing the B button, the elevator instantly shut, bringing the hero down into the deep end of the hero building. Watching the lights slowly dim to adjust to the underground segment of the Luminary Edifice, he tapped his green hoof, tail swishing impatiently. He only lightly cursed at the one he was trying to visit, the prisoner having personally asked to be on the lowest floor and to never be allowed out. It was probably bad for their health, but they insisted. Still, everyone tries to make the cell as accommodating as possible no matter their pleas.
The elevator finally stopped, signifying that he was down. Rushing out, he followed the same route he always took to visit.
"Oh, hey D- Ixionid!" The voice that spoke up had brown hair with white tips, wearing the same green armor they had previously worn years ago. Under normal circumstances, captured villains wouldn't get the treatment that this one did, such as good bedding, food, water, and the freedom to walk around wherever. 6 years ago, Doom had wanted to be treated like all the other villains, but that was denied since they were still their friend. While Ixionid, Stellar Sea, and the rest of the heroes were supposed to imprison all villains the same - Shockwave had only become a hero a year after Doom's confinement - they couldn't do it for Doom. When Doom had turned themself in, revealing who they were, and full-on asking to be sent to jail, they felt pity. Still, they had to at least give them what they wanted, if only to soothe their soul.
Ixionid sighed, his hands shaking as he pushed the door open. The "jail cell" was unlocked and easy to escape from, but putting a willing criminal behind a complicated set of locks was unnecessary. "You can just call me Doc, there's no one around, X."
"Sorry," Xisuma laughed, getting up from their bed, "Force of habit. What'd you need, you seemed kind of rushed to get here."
"Yeah, about that. I know it's a sensitive topic, but how can reverse sculk infection?" He rushed to speak, his demeanor the complete opposite of Xisuma's calm voice.
The topic of sculk instantly lowered Xisuma's mood, memories rushing in like a broken dam. "...has someone else suffered my fate?" When Doc doesn't respond, Xisuma instantly understands.
"Well... if my memory isn't failing me, extreme heat or fire can get rid of it in an instant, but I think if you cover it in wool, eventually it will go away. It depends on how much time you have before they fully succumb. And, if you don't mind me asking, who's the one who's been sculked?"
"Pearl Moon. The news anchor in the morning. I believe Gem is there too." The hero doesn't expect X to recognize them, seeing as the two had moved in quite recently, but, surprisingly, they seemed to react to the names.
The former villain took a moment to dwell before finally responding. "Well, you should probably tell that to your fellow, heroes, right Doc?"
He immediately left, leaving with only a quick goodbye. He was still a hero, no matter how long he wanted to chat. And so, he switched back to being Ixionid, contacting Shockwave and Stellar Sea as soon as he could.
Xisuma lay back down on their queen-sized bed, expression grim. It was only around 6 years since he chose to be imprisoned, and their old friend Bitter Frost was finally starting to show his true colors. They regret leaving him in his state, they thought he could move away from human experimentation, but look where that got them. In the best-case scenario, his friends would save Pearl and Gem, uncorrupt the news anchor, and knock Frost down a peg.
The worst-case scenario?
Xisuma would need to ask to be released and finally see the monster his friend Bitter- no- Frost Warden would become.
They hoped they didn't need to leave. It was quite cozy in the cell. There was internet and they could play Doom for as long as they wanted.
