The assassin couldn't deny that the casino was fantastic. The building was filled with diamonds, although there weren't enough of them to go overboard. Despite their conflict, he understood who had designed the structure and felt compelled to acknowledge them.
"Are you sure you're cool with this, Lush?" Second only to his companion, his friend and one of the most contentious "heroes" inquired while placing a ghostly hand on his mossy shoulder.
"I mean, I have to do what I have to do," Lush Shroud shrugged, adding, "Besides, I eventually have to confront my demons. Do it now rather than later, else... " He raises his ghostly hands in the shape of an explosion, which causes the other to laugh.
The two companions of Lush Shroud, who he would essentially characterize as anti-heroes, didn't give themselves a name or make an effort to get attention. They allowed the city to name them, and boy, did they live up to it. Lush's personal favorites are Rift Walker - the man who stood next to him at this moment - and Duchess Of Death - who not only never kills anything in her life but also sounds way better than the so-called "Angel of Death" in a city not too far away - but the public always alternates between different other names. It gets confusing when both of them have eerily similar powers that sometimes they just get the exact same name.
Kind of sucks, you know?
Normally, Lush Shroud and Rift Walker wouldn't go into a public location unless they had personal business to conduct, but this casino was an exception. Customers wouldn't notice them because they are either too gambling or alcohol dependent to do so. Both were present at times.
Even though the guards would see them, they would do nothing. Anyone employed by the Lustrous Chip was also a part of the criminal activity that took place behind the scenes of this magic performance.
The duo walked inside with ease, passing minuscule glances towards the patrons of the gambling citadel. It was painful. The more they stayed, the more they pitied those blinded by greed. It's not like they can do anything, they're not gambling addict therapists. It felt like a mile, but they eventually made it to the far back of the establishment.
"You got a meeting?" The man standing at the door asks, the stench of alcohol clearly reeking off of him. Lush Shroud knows that Blackjack's trying his best to prevent it, but it can't be helped when the bar gives away free drinks to the workers.
"Where's Blackjack?" Lush demanded, almost startling Rift behind him.
The guard blinked a bit, before grinning loosely, "Eh, Blackjack's out doin' somethin'. Still, you gotta get a-"
Lush started to approach the man, clearly annoyed, "Just let me in-"
"Aw, look who's back!" Poker sing-songedly spoke behind Lush, putting his elbow on the shorter's mossy head, "It's Mossy and his friend!" He kindly shoves the worker in the direction of the bar, letting him off his shift early for being such a great worker before continuing their conversation, "Anyways, you can come into my office, Lush."
While they walk in, Poker is about to close off Rift before Lush catches the door, "He's coming with me. I need an outside party for this. Besides, they don't know yet."
"We don't know what?" Rift glances at the two glaring at each other before Lush gently nudges him into the office.
"That's what we'll be discussing," he says, taking a seat at the plush red velvet sofa. He hated to admit it, but he had enjoyed the luxury of working at the Lustrous Chip, but the riches weren't enough to counteract the people who he worked alongside...
As Rift Walker and Lush Shroud took a seat, Poker sat on his side of the desk, gloved hands clasped together. "Well," he started, "Where should I start..."
After getting a harsh gaze from the mossy assassin, Poker chuckled, "Guess I'll start from the beginning...
"A couple of weeks ago, Blackjack was asked by an anonymous note to head to a little abandoned building a ways away. Oh course, he went, seeing as he needed to keep up a reputation. Later, he'd meet up with Corpse Lily and Lancelot outside the building, and ever later attend a meeting with Frost Warden. As you know, Frosty's been fairly dormant since the incident with Shashboomydoomy, but he's just been plotting and biding his time. At this meeting, he offers Jacky, Corpsy, and Lancer to join his lil team. Of course, they accept, but periodically, and the week after - which was a few days before I sent you that message - they held a meeting. I don't really know what happened since Jacky didn't let me go and he didn't tell me, but it probably scared him with how much he was sweating. He doesn't sweat a lot, you know?" Poker takes a breath, chugs a bit of water from a bottle he mysteriously got, and finishes off his spiel, "Anyways, Jacky's pretty much just plotting for total domination over the city. You got that, Mossy boi?"
Neither of the guests says anything before Rift Walker suddenly jumps out of the sofa, hands slammed down on the desk, "EXCUSE ME WHAT?!"
Rift Walker and Lush Shroud left the Lustrous Chip, Lush having to have dragged Rift out. Normally, it'd be the other way around, but shock kind of started to fill Rift's mind to they both needed to leave.
"I... I'm not usually involved in this sorta thing, you know?" Rift comments as they stand in an alleyway next to a Chick-Fil-O, "Usually, it's just me and my partner just doing things for kicks, sometimes running into Slimecicle, but just... chaotic fun." He sighs, remembering that they hadn't seen Slimecicle in a while, something that severely worried him.
Lush patted Rift on the back, a kind smile on his shrouded face, "I know, you're not typically wrapped up in this sort of thing. I just thought you'd need to hear this since it'd be affecting... everyone-"
Before Lush can get another word in, a weightless figure lands on Lush's head, startling them both out of their conversation, "You'd need to hear what? What's affecting everyone?"
"SLIMECICLE YOU LITTLE-"

Lancelot stood in the middle of a desolate graveyard, two "doppelgangers" in front of him. However, one had a body made up of pure flames, embers flicking out of every crook and cranny that existed in his armor. The other was a pure void, purple particles almost invisible to the naked eye floating around the other.
"How'd the plan?" The fiery one asks almost in a growl.
Lancelot nods, "Going as according to our predictions. I'll continue to ease Frost into a sense of unawareness, then you both can strike when I provide the signal."
The void one sighs, "And the backup?"
"If all else fails, yes, we may go with the back-up," the knight groans, "Despite how much I despise it..."
As Lancelot nods once more, the fire and void knights vanish, the final of the trio sighs. He hoped this would work, so that Xiran and Hels might finally leave him and his... relative alone...
chapter 6 done! hmm, I wonder what our knight in gleaming armor is planning, hm?
