Bucky wasn't happy with the circumstances that led to this moment, having to break Zemo out of prison, having to save the world once again, meeting Sharon and finding himself face to face with the newest 'Captain America'. God this guy was so stuck up and arrogant. He had to restrain himself from punching his face, that looked oddly more and more like a target the more he spoke. They were standing in the basement of some building as they waited for Sam to talk down the girl causing all the trouble they found themselves in.
He had planted himself in between John and the door, trying to buy Sam as much time as possible. He had no clue what was taking him so long, but the more time that passed, the more antsy this guy seemed to get. Soon he was chasing him through the halls, finding them all in the same room as the girl, Sam, and another figure disappearing into the shadows as they entered. Buck noticed this, but was too caught up in the chaos that followed the chase of the young girl to investigate further.
Bucky eventually found himself in an empty hall, turning around in circles trying to find any trace of anyone. A feeling of being watched sent a shiver down his spine, spinning around and coming face to face with ___. "___?"
"The one and only, Barnes. So, you and the impostor, ay? Didn't take you for a traitor." They circled him as they spoke, swinging and landing their hit on the metal arm he raised to block their attack. "Traitor? You mean Walker?"
"The impostor pretending to be Cap? Yes. How could you?" There was a playful tone to the words bouncing off their tongue, but their eyes held nothing but betrayal as they brought down another blow. The two struggled back and forth, Bucky finally getting them pinned to a nearby wall, holding their wrists above their head. "Listen to me! I'm not with him, he just showed up. I don't like him anymore than you do. And you're one to talk, this group is killing people, ___!"
"I'm not with them!" They leaned their head back against the cold plaster of the wall, glaring ahead at the man through a few wild strands of hair. "I despise them. I was doing recon, but you and that asshat had to come in and ruin all of my progress!"
"You wouldn't have been able to take them down on your own anyway. You know they're super soldiers too, right?"
"No shit, and I have the ability to melt into shadow, I would've been fine." They struggled against the cold metal hand holding them on their tiptoes. Bucky watched them struggle, shaking his head slightly. "What happened to you? Where did you go after-"
"After the blip? Sadly, I didn't get dusted away with rest of you, I had to deal with losing you and everyone else I loved. Grief can change you, Buck, and having so much to grieve with no way out, it was hell." Buck watched the defeated look that dragged their body down to relax in his grip. He didn't let go, though, he knew they were right where they needed to be.
___ pulled their head up, trying to blow the hair from their face and failing. Buck noticed and leaned closer, taking his free hand and gently pushing the hair away from their face. They stood, both frozen, as his fingers traced down their jaw. ___ took the opportunity, seeing as he wouldn't, and crashed their lips onto his roughly. He stood there for a moment, hand releasing its grip ever so slightly. They smirked, slipping their hands out of his and bolting away from him, turning to laugh over their shoulder as they watched the surprise on his face wash away.
He came chasing after them, jumping over railing, out into the streets. He grabbed their waist, tackling them to the stone below with a grunt. ___ smirked as he turned them over to face him, licking their lips and staring into his eyes. "So you did like it?" Their smirk only grew as Bucky leaned down and started to attack their neck. ___'s eyes rolled back, fluttering closed as he nipped at their soft skin. "There are kids, Sarge." He pulled back, looking around to a small group of kids walking the street ten feet from them. "You won't get out of this so easily, not this time."
He pulled them up, keeping a firm hand around their wrist, and tugged them back towards the building they had just escaped from. Inside they found Sam, John, and his lackey, that ___ didn't care to know the name of, yelling at each other about how it all went down. When Sam noticed the prisoner Bucky tugged along with him, he ceased his yelling. John noticed his silence and turned to look at the newest addition to their group. "And who might you be?" The smirk that played on his face gave away all his intentions.
"None of your business." They snapped back, glaring at Sam. "This is your fault. Tell him to let go." Sam watched the anger flicker in their eyes before shaking his head. "I think you might be able to help us." They scoffed. "I could, but why would I? You gave the shield away and let this fake take his place when he told you it was yours to take."
"___, I get it, but Steve-"
"Don't! Say his name." They yelled, Bucky pulling them closer to his side. "You fucked up, you fix it. You're not getting shit from me."
"We have ways to get you to talk, you know?" John stepped in front of them, cutting their gaze from Sam's to his. They shot spit out onto his face, glaring with an even higher intensity. Buck pulled them back, standing just between the two. "I refuse to answer to a man who will do nothing but sully the legacy of a great hero. You will fall and I will watch with a smile on my face." ___ began to laugh manically.
"What are they talking about? Are they insane?" John stepped back for a moment, watching their eyes follow him. "No, they can tell the future." Bucky mumbled, a grumpy disposition overcoming him more as he interacted with the star spangled fake. "Oh, hilarious. Seriously, what's wrong with them?"
The assumes sarcasm of Bucky's tone seemed to stump the man, staring back at the figure he hid. ___ stepped out from behind Buck and smiled a sickly sweet grin, mischief peeking at the corners of their lips. "For someone who claims to idolize the Avengers so much, you know so little about them. How do you think they knew what was going to happen next?"
"Doctor Strange, he looked at all the possible outcomes. Everyone knows that." The lackey spoke up, ___'s attention snapping to him for a moment before returning to the taller male. "Of course that's what they'd tell everyone. Conveniently trying to hide me away again. He might be able to see all the possibilities of the future, but I can see the one we are currently on course to. Every decision changes the outcome, but I can tell you what your current outcome will be, up until the next choice it to be made."
The words seemed to cause something to stir within John. "Prove it. Prove you can do that."
"John, no. We don't have time for this right now, let's go." Sam interjected.
"No, I need to know. I need-" ___ placed their hands on either of his temples, Bucky's hand still fastened around their wrist. Their eyes rolled back, eye lids fluttering wildly as their mouth fell open just slightly. They all watched as John mimicked their expression, falling to his knees before them. His lackey soon grew worried, knocking the witch away from his friend.
From the ground, ___ smirked at the two government puppets. "You will fall, it is foretold. You will always make the wrong decision. No matter what choice you are presented, you will always do wrong. Will you take it?"
The last sentence struck a chord in John, his glare fixating on their wicked grin as Buck knelt down to check that they were okay. "You're wrong. I'm Captain America! I always do what's right!" And with that, he stormed out, leaving the three to find Zemo, who had escaped a while ago, and hopefully put a stop to the rest of this chaos.
