***** Chapter 24 - I'm sorry *****
Fortune ignored the glares she got from Thomas and Fred as she slowly walked up to Julien's unconscious body.
He was all strapped to various machines as they beeped away, monitoring his every lifeline. He had a massive mask over his face, barely showing a tube lodged down his throat as another machine by his side pumped clean oxygen into his lungs.
"Julien..." Her voice came out as a whisper.
Naturally he didn't react as he just lay there asleep. The only sound being the beeps from the machines around him.
"Julien please wake up..."
"I'm sorry." She reached out and gently took his hand in hers.
It lay limp in her grip but she still squeezed it tight.
"I'm so sorry for what I said. I didn't mean it." Her tear fell into his hand in hers as she tried to wipe her face.
"I was angry and upset and I didn't mean it. I was so stupid to think you were keeping it a secret from me on purpose."
"What secret?" Hunter asked, looking up.
"Shut up." Thomas smacked him lightly over the head as Fortune turned to him.
Thomas gave her a small nod. "We're listening."
She nodded back as she looked back down at Julien.
"You are family Julien. You always have been and you always will be."
She brought her hand and wiped her cheek as she continued to hold his tightly.
"I'm sorry I didn't hear you all out." She looked back up at Thomas before looking back down at Julien.
"But you broke your promise."
Thomas went to take a step closer but she continued.
"You promised you wouldn't fucking do it again. Meaning you wouldn't scare me like this, and yet here you are laying here like this terrifying the life out me."
Her hand wiped away her tears again as Hayden and Hunter moved behind her. They placed a hand on her shoulders in sync but she shook them off.
