***** Chapter 18 - Her mother's daughter *****
Screams flooded the audience as the panicked crowd began to desperately try and flee the big tent.
The large flames instantly swarmed the large tent.
Fortune tried to grab at Kazi, begging him and the rest to follow.
Yet the screams drowned out her shouts.
Daryl dove on the girl, narrowly pushing her away from a burning plank of wood that fell above her.
"FUCKING MOVE FORTUNE!" He shouted as he grabbed onto her wrists and tried to pull her away.
"DARYL! THE LIONS!" She screamed back.
Her mind flashed as his did the exact same.
The same line from the year before.
"SWEETHEART FUCKING MOVE!"
She turned as she saw Julien struggling to keep Kazi calm and get him out of there. Kazi reacted with a roar and swiped out at him, his large paw making contact with Julien's face.
"JULIEN!" Fortune screamed as she went to go reach out to him but was held back by Daryl's arms around her waist.
"FORTUNE WE HAVE TO GO NOW!" He shouted as he tugged against her, eagerly trying to pull her away.
The smoke quickly filled the arena.
As it had a year before.
"FORTUNE!"
She spun her head as she saw Hayden reaching out and grabbing onto her arm.
"THE FUCK ARE YOU JUST STANDING FOR?!" He snapped harshly at her. "FUCKING MOVE!"
Daryl and Hayden quickly tried to drag her away, doing their best to get her to safety.
Ace.
Fortune instantly began frantically struggling against their grip as she tried to look around.
The smoke had overtaken the room as the red, orange and yellow flames burnt around them. They flew up the cloth surrounding the big tent and caught on all the wood in the ceiling used by the aerial artists. Their own cloths were alight in a heartbeat as the flames almost came flying down them and onto the grass below.
