***** Chapter 22 - Family didn't keep secrets *****
Fortune didn't want to let go. Her arms remained locked around him as she practically straddled his lap, her head buried into his neck as tears of relief fell onto his shoulder.
"I'm okay sweetheart." His voice whispered softly into her ear as his hands rubbed her back.
"I was so scared you were going to-" Her words were cut off as she almost choked on her own sobs.
Julien pushed her back as he held her face in his hands, staring straight into her eyes.
"I'm okay sweetheart." He reassured her again.
Fortune sniffed and wiped her cheeks before diving straight into another hug again. Julien smiled down at her softly as his arms returned to being wrapped around her tightly.
"Come on now," he kept trying to calm her down. "You know me, I always like playing with fire."
Fortune pushed herself away to glare down at him.
"Too soon?" He laughed out as he coughed a few more times.
"Don't ever fucking do that again." She snapped as she smacked his bare chest and let herself flip back down against him again.
"I promise sweetheart." He whispered comfortingly.
Fortune kept herself leaning against him as she raised her hand with her pinkie out.
Julien's hand raised as he locked their pinkies and gently shook them.
"I'm on that one!" Thomas added as he leant forward and quickly grabbed his brother's pinkie with his own. "Don't ever fucking do that again."
Julien laughed before coughing but managed to nod. Fred grunted as he quickly leant forward and held his pinkie onto the rest.
Julien quickly groaned as a large thud was felt by his feet. Fortune moved aside as Kazi haphazardly walked along the bed towards Julien.
"Hey big boy." Julien spoke as he released everyone's pinkie and reached his hand out to the large lion.
"I believe I owe you my life mister." He spoke softly as the rest watched as Kazi nudged his hand, giving it a small lick. "Hospital said without you getting me out of there I wouldn't have made it."
Fortune tried to hold back the rest of her tears,as she realised just how close to death Julien had been.
"Good work boy." Julien tried taking a deep breath as he continued to scratch Kazi's head.
