Chapter 15 - A drug dealer?

Fortune tried to forget about what was secretly going on as she focused on the show.

Yet her mind was so distracted.

All she could think of was what was happening, not that she had any idea but she was determined to know.

If her real brothers wouldn't help her then she would just have to stick to the Barnes's brothers.

"I take it you're going to find the Merrill guy again?" Julien asked as he helped Fortune lock up the lions for the night.

She nodded slowly. "Is it that obvious?"

Julien shrugged. "The guy's come to every show so far."

A small smile came to her face.

Ace had been there for every show, without fail. She loved even more so, knowing his applause was for her and her alone.

"Cover for-"

"Cover for you, I know the drill." Julien quickly blurted out nodding.

She gave him a brief smile. "You know, sometimes I wish I was a Barnes."

Julien felt a lump form in his throat.

"I could be a Leo too." She laughed out.

Julien gave her a big smile and nodded. "You'd make a cracking Leo."

Fortune beamed up at him as she grabbed his shoulders, quickly kissed his cheek and disappeared into the night.

"Still reckon he's just a fling?" He asked as he turned and saw Thomas leaning up against a collection of boxes.

Thomas nodded slowly. "He's just a fling." He blurted out. "Now let's go get a drink."

Thomas and Julien began walking away and Fred followed in silence, shaking his head in disagreement with his brother's statement once more.

"I gotta admit, as nice as this little set up is, you gotta keep that dress on at least once."

Fortune turned as she saw Ace come from the same alley as before.

Looking down at her waistcoat and hot pants she shrugged slightly.
