CH19-The New Power Couple

The next morning Jas is gone when I wake up. I stare at his spot confusedly as he usually waits until I'm up and moving to leave or puts a note in his spot.

I spot a note on my desk across from my bed.

I stand and walk over to it picking up the flimsy piece of paper.

Went for a hunt, I'll be back to pick you up with Edward. I love you🖤

I smile at the way he signed it.

I quickly get dressed and run to Bella's room to wake her up. I knock and immediately barge in without a response. I see her spaced out, laying on her bed already dressed. She lightly plays with her hair, lost in her thoughts. "Hey sis, it's almost time to go. Edward and Jasper will be here in a couple minutes." I say gaining her attention just barely.

She glances up at me, rolls her eyes, and hums in agreement as she starts to sit up still looking lost in thought.

I sigh and exit the room. I head downstairs and into the kitchen grabbing a banana and a bag of granola for lunch. Though I know I won't have an appetite.

Suddenly I hear a car door close outside. I look out the family room window and see Edward and Jasper getting out of the former's car.

"Bella! They're here!!"

I head to the front door when I notice Jasper moving toward it. I beat him there and open it allowing him inside.

I wrap my arms around his neck and allow him to lift me with his arms wrapping around my torso.

"I missed seeing you this morning," I say as he sets me back down. He kisses the top of my head, having to lean down slightly to reach it. "I missed seeing you this morning too. Instead, I had to see him." He mutters referring to the vampire leaning against his car.

I hear stomping around upstairs, then clomping, and I turn my head to see Bella bounding down the stairs with her coat on and her bag with her.

"Come on guys. We gotta get to school." She says rushing past us and out the door, but not before giving us a smug smirk as she leaves us behind. I roll my eyes playfully at her antics and grab my bag off the couch not too far from us.

I walk back over to Jas and grab his hand in mine. "Come on before she combusts," I say pulling my mate out of the house. I close the door and lock it then allow Jasper to pull me to the car.

We hop into the back and Edward drives off. I pull my earbuds from my pocket ready to use them but a hand stops me. Jasper's cold skin covers my own as he places his hand over my own.

He gives me a look 'why use them while I'm here?' So I place them in my lap while rolling my eyes at him. "I'm putting them in when we get to school," I say leaning my head against his shoulder and closing my eyes. "Works for me." He responds kissing my forehead softly. I take in the comfort from the simple act and allow myself to enjoy this moment.

Time Skip!

We pull into the parking lot and just as I promised I put an earbud in allowing myself to listen to my music and not miss any conversation.

Spotlight by Mutemath comes on and I gently bob my head to the intro.

Edward parks the car and unlocks it allowing us all to get out. Jas gets the door open and helps me out of the smaller vehicle as I'm so used to getting out of my truck.

Edward goes around to our side and once we're out of the car he opens the door for Bella. She climbs out and looks around. I do the same, now taking notice that everyone's eyes are on us. Well not really looking at Jasper and me but the couple walking behind us. I kind of shrink into Jas's side

"Wow.. Uhm.." She takes a pause continuing to look around and continues. "You know everyone is staring at us."

People part ways to let the four of us walk through. Almost like we're gods or something. We are definitely not gods.

Supernatural creatures and their human mates however..

"Uh, no, not that guy." Edward says pointing to a random guy right ahead of us. He turns his eyes on us and they widen. "Oh no, he just looked." He says slightly defeated. I roll my eyes. Yea no shit Cullen. I think.

Edward glances back at me and raises an eyebrow. I glare at him in return causing him to sigh and turn forward as we approach the school doors.

"Breaking all the rules now anyway." He mutters glancing at Jasper. He turns back forward swinging his arm over Bella's shoulders.

"Since we're going to hell." He says. I look up at Jasper who looks frustrated with his jaw clenched and his arm around me tightening slightly.

I eye Jasper warily and questioningly at what Edward was referring to but he pays no mind to my inquiring gaze and instead continues up to the school.

We reach the school doors and Jasper opens the door for us to walk through. I walk in last allowing him to be next to me. He takes hold of my hand after letting the door be caught by someone else coming in behind us.

The next few days go by sluggishly. Jasper and I hang out every day after school at home cuddled up watching a new movie or series that interests the both of us.

There are some series and movies that get us into a dispute like 'Teen Wolf'. He says it's unrealistic having dealt with his fair share of werewolves before. I keep telling him it's just a tv show and he waves me off saying 'it's the principle of the thing' or whatever.

Anyway currently we're laying in my bed watching said show.

"Why do they now have a Hell Hound? What even is a Hell Hound? Banchee I understand, Kitsune threw me but ok, now Hell Hound?" He rants about the mythical fictional creatures.

I roll my eyes. "The Hell Hound is the gatekeeper of Hell."

"They said that but why? This isn't Supernatural."

I roll my eyes once more, lean up and kiss his cheek.

"What?" He asks looking at me slightly annoyed and amused.

I shake my head and face back to the show.

We sit watching for a little bit longer and Jasper starts talking again.

"My family wants to have you and Bella over for dinner tomorrow."

I snap my head to face him taken aback by the sudden statement. He's looking right into my eyes with a calm expression on his face but something that could be a spark of anxiety in his eyes.

I push my shock away.

"What?" I ask giving him a confused expression. "You heard me Darlin'."

For a few seconds, I just stare at him trying to decipher whether he was lying or not.

"Your family wants Bella and I over for dinner?"

"Yea, Carlisle and Esme wanna cook for you guys plus I think it'll be nice. Rose wants to see you and spend more time with you."

"Huh."

"Do you not want to?"

"It's not that, I guess I'm just surprised is all."

"Well if you don't want to then we don't have to."

"No, no I want to."

"Ok then."

He smiles and kisses my cheek and goes back to watching the show.

I glance between the show and him as I watch him grimace.

"Seriously werewolves fully turn into dogs not just their faces morphing." He huffs.

I giggle as I gaze on at his features.

Well hell, I'm in this shit for life huh.
