CH17-The Next Day

The next morning I wake up to feeling eyes on me. Knowing who it is I pay no mind till he starts playing with my hair.

"Ya know it's not polite to pretend to be asleep." He says pointedly.

I roll my eyes and counter back. "Ya know it's not polite to stare at a woman who's sleeping. Some would consider that creepy." I use the same tone he does.

"Ah and are you that 'some'?" He asks. "Yes." I reply getting up and out of bed. I go to my closet and start to pick out my outfit nonchalantly as I feel eyes glaring into my back.

I feel a breeze and next thing I know he's standing pressed against my back. A chill runs up my spine as his breath makes contact with my neck. "Is that so, Darling?" He inquires with a deeper tone.

I try not to show that I'm slowly giving in and make my way away from him to my drawer. I check my phone on the way looking at the weather forecast.

99% rain. So the normal.

I sigh and pull out my faded jeans and my floral off the shoulder crop top and my dark jean jacket. I put my hair up into a high pony before changing.

I hear him sigh near my closet. He comes up behind me gentler this time and places his arms around my waist pulling me into him. "I'm sorry love." I smile lightly because he really doesn't have any reason to apologize but I'm gonna milk this.

I drop my smile and turn into him placing my face in his chest.

I nuzzle into him and he holds me tighter.

"What can I do to make it up to you?" I sigh. "Mhm.."

"How about," he starts gently pushing me away only slightly to look into my eyes. "You tell me what I can do when you figure it out." He finishes pressing a kiss to my forehead. I close my eyes in content.

The content feeling seems to last forever until I hear a knock on my door. "Hey Liz, I'm leaving early. I gotta talk to Edward. I'll see you at school." Bella says loudly. "Ok thank you for letting me know." I reply back matching her volume.

I hear her footsteps fade away down the stairs. I breathe a sigh of relief as the door closes.

I change in my closet much to Jasper's dismay. Once I'm ready, I grab my bag and head downstairs. I have my keys in my hand and gently push Jasper out the door.

I close and lock it then make my way to my truck.

"You want me to take you to school?" He inquires with concern lacing his words.

I shake my head. "No it's ok. I'll meet you there." I smile gently at him and lean up standing on my top toes bringing my lips to his.

I feel his lips pull into a smile at my gesture. His hands come up to either sides of my neck pulling me closer.

Our kiss doesn't last too much longer as we pull apart and he opens the driver door allowing me to scooch into the seat. Before he closes the door he kisses me once more lingering a small smile as we pull away.

He closes the door and I put the key in the ignition. When I look back, he's gone. I let out a low chuckle at how ridiculous my life is right now.

I move out of the driveway and make my way to school. On the drive I think about the fact that I'm dating a vampire who's apart of a family of vampires. How crazy is that?

I pull up the school and park next to Bella. She's standing at the front of her car reading. Anyone can tell she's not actually able to pay attention to the book as she keeps looking around waiting for Edward to show up. I let out a sigh opening my door and getting out to stand beside her.

I nudge her shoulder causing her to snap her head to face me. She seems startled for a second then when she notices it's just me.

She breathes deeply and looks at me with sad eyes.

"Why aren't you as concerned as I am?" I shrug not wanting to tell her I know just yet.

She sighs and drops her head. I place my hand in her back and rub gently.

Suddenly the silver Volvo comes into the parking lot taking its spot at the front next to the other familiar vehicles. Jasper gets out of the passenger side in different clothes from the ones he left in this morning. Edward follows suit out the drivers side.

Edward makes a beeline for the school when he sees Bella and I standing at her car. I roll my eyes at his antics.

"Corner him after school. Let's just get through the school day." I say grabbing her arm, pulling her towards the building. Jasper waits for us at the entrance and walks with us to our first class of the day.

The day goes by quickly and we're already in Bio...which is awkward as all hell.

"Why doesn't he just talk to her?" I inquire quietly with Jasper.

"He will." He sighs trying and failing to focus on the assignment Molina has given.

"When?" I ask being nosey.

"After school. She's gonna have a lot of questions and you know that more than anyone. They would've missed school if they'd talked this morning." He explains.

"Ugh." I groan as I lay my head on my folded arms.

Jasper chuckles at my distress.

"Don't worry love, they'll talk soon." He tries to ease my curiosity and worry.

Not long after that conversation, the dismissal bell rings causing the class to rise at once grabbing their things, only to be stopped by Mr. Molina.

"The assignment will be due tomorrow when you enter the classroom." He says but only a small amount of the students are actually paying attention to his words, while the rest are chomping at the bit to escape.

He waves his hands in an 'off you go' gesture causing our classmates to run out the doors.

Mr. Molina sighs and shakes his head while I stifle a laugh.

Jasper nudges my arm and jabs his head towards the door silently telling me we should leave.

I nod and grab his hand that's open for me to take.

He leads me out of the classroom and down the hall to my locker. I put in the combination and pull the door open. I place the unused Bio book on the top shelf and close the locker.

Jasper grabs my hand again and drags me outside.

I spot Bella standing in the middle of a bunch of teens walking away from the building. She's looking on at Edward who is a little ways in front of her. They make eye contact and Bella walks toward him but she doesn't stop and instead keeps going.

Edward visibly swallows as he turns tail and walks behind her.

"See? What'd I tell ya darlin'?" Jasper says placing his arm over my shoulder and places his chin on my other one.

I sigh and shake my head slightly. "This is not gonna end well."
