CH12-'Quileute Legend'

The next day flys by. We get to school and suddenly it's already lunch. The Cullens and I walk in and get food and head to our seats. "So have you thought about what I said, Ed?" I ask him as soon as we sit down. Jasper swings his arm around and in front of me and pulls me to his chest as he looks at the addressed male. Edward looks up at me with a snide look on his face. "I'll take that as a no." I say in conclusion to the look and silence mix.

He shakes his head and throws down a piece of what looks like used to be chicken. "Yes I have Liz but I need more time to divulge over this than a day." He says in response. "Well take all the time you need. I mean you only have till prom." I say back. He grunts at me and turns his head toward Bella. Jasper and I look over and see she's looking at us. I give her a warm smile which she returns before turning back to look at her friends. She gets up and goes to the salad bar.

"Go talk to her. Now! And be nice." I say as I hit his leg with mine. He grunts dramatically stands up and plasters a fake smile on his face purposefully flaunts it at me then goes to the salad bar with Bella. I snicker at his antics and continue eating what little food was on my plate. "Not hungry again, love?" Jasper asks. I shake my head and gently push the tray away from me. I lean my head on Jasper's chest and close my eyes.

I feel Jasper's cold hands run up and down my arms comfortingly. I let a small smile run across my lips as I scooch closer to his person. Suddenly the lonely vamp is back just as I open my eyes and he looks kinda happy. "So I'm guessing you weren't an asshole this time?" He laughs lightly and shakes his head. "She actually invited me to go to La Push beach with her and her friends though I had to make up an excuse not to go because it's past the boundaries but we had a civil nice conversation even if it was short lived." He says with a tiny smile.

I smile back and say, "See what happens when you're not a complete dick? You have a nice conversation with my sister." He chuckles and throws a piece of lettuce at me I laugh in response to his childish action and continue my tiny nap. Then the bell rings.

Time Skip!

Later in the day I am sitting in my room listening to Spotify with my window open cleaning what little mess I had in my room when Jasper zips in through said window. "Hey Darlin'." He says coming up behind me. "Hey babe. What's up?" I say in response as I turn around ending up in his arms. "What do I need a reason to come see my mate whom I love so much?" I roll my eyes at his more statement than question. "No but a warning would be nice though." I say as I place a folded sheet on the end of my bed.

"Alright well next time I come over I'll pull out all the stops. Maybe some fireworks, a blimp and flowers." He states. I smile lightly and say, "Maybe not the fireworks and the blimp but flowers would be nice." I kiss his cheek and pull away so I can continue cleaning. "Anyway I just wanted to come and say we won't be at school tomorrow." I turn to face him and say, "Well tomorrow's going to be one hell of a slow day then." I return to what I'm doing and try to ignore the advancements he's making towards me.

He grabs my shirt that I'm trying to hang up out of my hands and takes said hands in his. I look up at him trying to hide my clearly sad emotions. He doesn't seem to buy it so I look down again. "Sweetheart you know it's supposed to be a nice day, right? We can't be there tomorrow. After school if you want to you can come by the house and see me and Rose if you'd like. I know she missed talking to you earlier and I'm sure she'll be dying if she doesn't get to talk to you tomorrow."

I sigh and look back up into his big pleading eyes. "Fine. I'll stop by after school." He smiles at my answer and kisses my forehead then bring his lips to meet mine in a soft but loving kiss. Suddenly he pulls away. "Your sister's home. And she's radiating determination." He says. "Good to know. Bye Jas. I love you." "Bye Lovely. I love you too. And I will see you tomorrow." He says making his way back to the window. "See you tomorrow." I say back then with one last smile he jumps from my window. I run over to it and look out only to see him speed away into the forest.

I sigh and head downstairs to greet my sister. I open the door and she bursts through heading straight upstairs. I raise my eyebrow at her actions and quickly close the door and make my way upstairs after her to find out what's going on.

I see her sitting at her desk with her laptop open and her coat and things flung on her bed. "Wow you must have had a nice day at the beach. Did you realize it was really windy today? I hope you bundled up." I say causing her to slightly jump at the new found presence and voice in her room.

"Jeez. Must you always sneak up on me like that?" Is her response. I roll my eyes at her. The computer boots up and she logs in immediately going for google. She searches 'Quileute Legend'. It brings up books and pages on many different legends. I pull up a chair next to hers and ask, "Why are you looking up legends on Jake's tribe?"

"Because I was talking with him and he mentioned this story and it involved the Cullens and his tribe being descendants of wolves and I wanted to know more. He also seemed to push me away when I started asking questions so I want to know what he's hiding. He kept saying it was just a story. I'm curious." She replies not even glancing at me.

I cringe in my seat when I realize what she's talking about. After Bella's proposal to Edward at lunch I asked Jas about it and he explained everything to me. Basically the treaty forbids the Cullens from being anywhere near the preserve.

She clicks on a bunch of different sites till she comes to one of a bookstore in Port Angeles. She grabs paper and a pen and scribbles down the directions and turns off her computer. She looks at the paper for a couple minutes before she looks at me and says, "You're coming with me tomorrow after school to check it out." I sigh at her words. "I can't, I'm supposed to see Jas and Rose tomorrow after school. Can't we go a little later than that?"

She contemplates my words before she nods then says, "But if an opportunity presents itself earlier then we'll go earlier." I nod reluctantly at her compromise and head off to my room. Tomorrow's gonna be one hell of a day.
