Camila
This is recovery, this is to heal myself. I thought, walking out of the airport. I need this. I told myself.
The scorching hot ball of fire floating in the sky, or as everyone else calls it, the sun, was beating down on my skin and I instantly felt sweat on my forehead coming on.
I love warm weather, don't get me wrong but holy shit it's hot here. "....And you can have the big open room upstairs with the balcony," Maria pictured, I tuned her out thinking about the sun so all I heard her say was something about my room.
"Sounds lovely." I fake smiled, I've been fake smiling so much recently...it's almost a habit of mine now.
I am lucky Maria offered for me to spend my summer here, I needed a break from things even though I should be going on tours, making music, and spending a awesome summer with the girls.
But, I'm not doing any of that anymore, those aren't my plans for this summer anymore. Now, I plan on just spending time with family and healing from my mom.
It's crazy how everything went from going great to going so horrible, so, so horrible. It's only been two weeks since.....the accident.
"Here, let me help you." Kevin, Maria's husband said taking my suitcase and bags away from me and putting them in the trunk.
Maria and Kevin are not actually blood related to me, but Maria and my mom had been best friends for years, she is treated just like family along with Kevin.
Maria is the district attorney and Kevin, is the chief of police so, I guess they're both into law enforcement.
They're completely rich, with one son, my age. His name is Sam, he's best friends with social media celebrities yet, I've never met any of his friends before in person.
I haven't seen Sam for a couple of years, and I'm not sure if I even want to see him now, it's not that I'm scared it's just, last time I saw him we kind of....kissed.
His parents don't know, and I'm pretty sure we are the only people who know that. At least, I hope but it was just a quick kiss, nothing passionate but it all happened because apparently he had a crush on me.
We were 15, so I guess it was childish and doesn't mean anything now. I'm just unprepared for an awkward encounter when I arrive to the house.
"I think you'll really enjoy the remodeling we've done on the house, Cam, we've just finished in April."
"Great, can't wait." I faked smiled, trying to keep an upbeat mood on the car ride to the Wilkinson house.
-
"Honey, they want me down at the station, I have to go. But, you can help Camila get settled in right?" Maria nodded and Kevin kissed her goodbye before leaving the house in his own car, once we pulled up in the driveway.
The house was probably the biggest I have ever seen, it was a mansion, just for three people...you'd think at least twenty people lived here, not only three.
Maria and I grabbed my things out of the trunk and we both went into the house. I stepped onto the white marble floor and instantly took in all of the fancy decor.
Chandeliers, perfect red roses in exotic vases from different vacations they've traveled in, the Wilkinson's are all rich, Kevin's parents own many corporations and obviously their wages are impacted on the way their son lives.
Maria showed me around the house, pointing out all of the many rooms, the dinning room, kitchen, the den, the study, the theatre room, the game room, then we went upstairs and she lead me into my room.
