"Is your mom still trying to drive Emma out of town?" Nora asks.
"She gets rid of anything she thinks is a threat," I tell her. "It's driving her mad that Emma is refusing to leave."
"Can't your mom just understand that she's just looking out for Henry?." Nolan says.
"She's way too overprotective of Henry," I say as we're walking. "I'm surprised she's not banned everyone in town from going near him."
"I used to think my parents were overbearing." Nora says.
"Yeah well," I begin. "My mom is the worst."
"If she is overprotective it just means she cares." Nolan says.
"Or Henry's right," Elijah says. "And she's hiding something."
"What that she's the evil queen?" I say.
"No offence Bella," Elijah says, stepping away from me. "She kind looks and acts like one."
"She's still my mom," I say, slapping the back of his head gently.
"She needs to do a better job of acting like it then." Nora says.
"I agree with that," I say. "She's always either too busy with work or Henry."
"At least she's not as strict with you," Elijah says. "I feel bad for Henry."
"So does Emma," I tell him. "I think that's part of the reason she's staying, she doesn't trust my mother with him and my mom is pissed about it."
"Emma gave birth to him," Nolan says. "Of course she is going to care if she doesn't feel he's getting the best life."
"Yeah well my mom sees it as Emma trying to steal Henry back," I say as we reach my house. "Wish me good luck."
They quickly say goodbye to me. As Nora and Elijah are walking away Nolan quickly kisses me.
"You know my mom would kill you if she caught us." I tell him.
"It's worth it." He tells me before he walks off trying to catch up to the others.
When I get into the house I'm instantly greeted by my mom who looks angry to put it nicely.
"Why weren't you in your first classes?" She asks loud enough for the entire town to hear.
"I was looking for Henry," I tell her. "I was worried about him."
"Where was he?" She asks me. "Emma brought him to school but you must have known where he was hiding."
"Why would I tell you that?" I ask her.
"I'm his mother," She shouts. "I care about him."
"If you acted like it he won't need somewhere to hide," I say before I head up to my room.
I'm half way through my homework when there's a knock on my room door.
"It's me," Henry says from the other side of the door. "Can I come in?"
"Yeah," I say before he opens the door. "What is it?"
"Do you think mom is mad because Emma is changing things?" He asks me as he sits down on the bottom of my bed.
"What do you mean?" I ask him .
"Well, this morning the clock tower started moving," He starts off by saying. "That hasn't moved my entire life."
"Hen, it's an old tower that hasn't moved since before that." I tell him. "But I don't mean that Emma made it happen, someone probably just fixed it."
"It's not that," Henry says. "Mom has been extra annoyed since it happened."
"She's annoyed at everything." I tell him as I go back to doing my work.
"You said you'd try to believe me, Bella." Henry says.
"I am," I tell him. "But this is one of the times where it's just a coincidence."
"Nothing in this town is a coincidence." He says.
No matter how hard I try to believe everything he is saying, I just can't. There's always some other explanation.
"If you can find more proof then maybe I'll find it easier to believe." I tell him.
