Fourteen

"Where are we going?" I ask Emma as she drives through town.

"Ashley's ex boyfriend's house," She says, not taking her eyes off the road in front of her.

"Why?" I ask her.

"Gold asked me to." Emma says.

"You're working with Mr Gold I thought you want to help her," I say as I turn to look at her. "This isn't going to end well."

"I'm not doing it for him," I Emma tells me. "I kinda caused her to run off,"

"Wait, she ran away," I ask Emma in disbelief. "What did you say to her?"

"I told her she could do what she wants," Emma says, shrugging her shoulders. "She didn't want to lose her child."

"Why is she giving the baby away then?" I ask her.

"She feels like she can't do it, there's nobody there for her to help," Emma says to me, she turns her head up for a moment to look at Henry in the mirror above her.

"And you think this will help," I say to her. "I mean they probably broke up for a reason."

"The reason doesn't always have to be they didn't love each other," Emma tells me as she pulls in front of a house.

She tells Henry to stay put as she gets out of the car.

"I've seen the guy that lives in there a few times," I tell Emma as I follow her out of the car. "But I've never seen him with Ashley, His name is Sean Herman."

"Do you think he'll help?" She asks as we walk up the path to the house.

"From what I've heard he's a nice guy," I tell Emma when we get to the door. "His dad on the other hand."

Emma doesn't say anything and instead knocks on the door, it takes a moment for someone to answer.

"What do you want?" Mr Herman asks as he opens the door.

"I want to speak to Sean Herman," Emma says to the man.

"Why?" He asks, holding the door as if he's getting ready to slam it.

"It's none of your concern." I tell him, if he won't listen to Emma he might listen to me.

It's the only perk of having a mother everyone is terrified of.

He looks at me and is about to say something when Emma interrupts.

"I just need to ask him a few questions." Emma says calmly.

"You can ask me." Mr Herman says.

"We need to speak to him about Ashley Boyd," Emma tells him, looking into the house to see if she can see any signs of Sean.

I can hear someone slowly walking down the stairs.

"He won't be talking about her," He says as he tries to shut the door.

Before he can get it to fully close someone opens it again.

"What do you want to ask me about Ashley?" He says looking at Emma.

"She's pregnant," Emma tells him, Ignoring his fathers sour expression. "And she needs you."

"He already knows." He says trying to shut the door but is again stopped.

"Is she alright?" Sean asks, ignoring his father.

"She'll be fine if you help," Emma tells him.

"I don't know," He says, looking between Emma and his dad.

"He's staying out of this," Mr Herman says as he begins to shut the door. "He's too young to be a father."

Once the door slams I turn to look at Emma. "Well that went well, didn't it."
