It was about 9 pm right now. Me and my friends spent the day just hanging around without anything to do. We got all the supplies we need, the anthros don't think we're here despite them standing guard in the street the mayor's office is, and we have a tv to watch stuff at the lowest volume.
I was checking out the news earlier. The fortified grocery store in that other town is currently being attacked by the town's population of female anthros. They've been using tools to cut through the wooden boards they covered the front windows with.
Besides that, a bunch of anthros in heat tried to leave one of the other small towns and got tear-gassed by the soldiers standing guard. Anthros in heat weren't the only ones trying to get past them. Throughout the week many survivors tried to get through to escape and were captured with less than lethal means before being driven back to town and dropped off.
The blame game is being played by the government, company and public for the damages and numerous people victim to this. The public made the company's pills popular and funded it with their investments, the company accidentally had a sterile side effect, the public called for the removal of them, the government was forced to use the public's most used suggestion, and now everyone trying to figure out who's the most responsible for the chaos. All this because some commonly used pills have the possibility to make someone sterile.
On the bright side of all this, Boreal Pharmaceuticals is working on a new anti-heat pill with no sterile side effects, so when that's finished and production starts something like this will likely never happen again. Erika might also make even more money from her earlier investment than she already has.
Besides all the news, we're up late and since it's the second last day before heat ends and anthros become normal again, and Molly decided to take out some drinks she had in her backpack. It was just some rum, vodka and coke to mix stuff with.
As I was taking a sip from my drink Ollie asked, "Do you think Erika is ok?"
"I think so. She probably spent this week waiting for me to come back. I miss her." I replied.
"You think she left the house and did anything bad?"
"I doubt it, she seemed pretty dead set on me coming back. It'll be nice to have my adoptive mother back to normal when the week is over."
"Yeah, I guess so. If you don't mind me asking, what were your biological parents like before you were sent to the orphanage?"
I didn't really know how to answer that. I never thought about them much, let alone knew them.
"I was too young to know them," I answered. "I just hope they didn't put me up for adoption because they hated me and instead couldn't afford a child. What about your parents Ollie?"
Ollie refilled his drink with a mix of vodka and coke before saying, "They are divorced. My mom takes care of me during the weekdays while my dad takes care of me during the weekends."
"Could you not have stayed with him during an experiment instead of being left alone?" Hannah asked.
"I could've, but he's a controlling asshole. Fending myself from horny wolves and hyenas is preferable to putting up with him for a week. Despite all the problems with the divorce, I at the very least get double the presents on Christmas and my birthday." Ollie joked.
"I wish my parents were divorced." Molly sarcastically said as she took a sip of her drink.
I was confused and asked, "Why?"
"Well, I don't actually wish for a divorce, but at least I wouldn't be as annoyed by the two of them."
"What do they do?"
