I woke up to Ollie lightly shaking me."Dan, get up. We're going to leave my fucked up house." He explained.
I slowly got up as my friends sat down near me.
"What's the plan?" Hannah asked.
"We get some food from the grocery store and then find someplace to stay." Everrett explained. "I think we should just rush inside as fast as we can and grab as much as we can before running right the hell out."
"That's not gonna work." Ollie said in disregard. "We should just go there, fight whatever anthro is there, grab the supplies, head down to the bar, have a pint and wait for all this to blow over."
Everrett sighed and said, "Shut up, we don't need jokes right now. Hannah or Dan, any ideas?"
I didn't know what's we could do. The store might have a few anthros or other survivors in it so we might have to fight someone, but due to the stupid rule we can't use weapons so there's much we could do to prepare.
After a minute of thinking Hannah's eyes lit up before saying, "We go through the back fire exit."
"Why?" I questioned.
"It's less likely we'll be seen entering from there. As long as it's unlocked we'll be good."
"I think I understand where you're coming from." Everret chimed in. "There's that row of trees and bushes near the emergency exit that can keep us hidden. It'll be way safer to got through there than walking through the parking lot to go through the front doors."
"Exactly," Hannah clarified. "if that door is open we can easily get into the store. The lights might be off so they might not notice us in the store unless we make a lot of noise. Who's fine with this plan?"
"I'm fine with it." Everett agreed.
"It's better than Everrett's plan, and my plan." Ollie agreed as well.
The plan seemed to be our best bet. It does rely on the emergency exit being open which none of us are sure of, but if it is we'll be set.
"Yeah, let's do this." I said, cementing the plan.
Ollie grabbed his bag and so did Emily. We stepped into the backyard and hopped over the neighbours fence into their yard. It looked undisturbed, but when I looked through the sliding glass door it seemed to have had some sort of scuffle inside.
We continued the same routine of hopping over fences into different backyards since we figured walking down the street will be less safe.
After a few minutes, we reached the final yard before we had to step out onto the street. There was an eerie silence. The entire town seemed almost lifeless.
As we walked down the street I noticed how a lot of things seemed untouched. A lot of cars were still parked in the same place before the experiment, most of the houses we passed seemed to not be damaged in any way, and there were surprisingly no anthros so far.
We still made sure to quietly move down the street while staying near parked cars for cover. It wasn't long before we reached the part of town that was mostly stores. We entered an alleyway and when we reached exit we were finally at our destination.
Across the street was the grocery store shining in all its glory. There were a few anthros sitting on top of a car in the parking lot eating some food they took from the store. I stopped the group so I could observe their behaviour for a minute or two .
They seemed pretty chill. Usually they were breathing heavily and in some sort of maniacal state, but it seems when they're not near guys they just relax and talk with friends. It seems anthros in heat are partially there mentally.
