Assignment

Author's Note: The title of this poem isn't actually "Assignment." It has no title, but I had to put something. The poem itself, though, was an assignment done by me and @ladyloki06115. It is a letter from the perspective of the Old Lady in The Wife of Bath's Tale from The Canterbury Tales. She is asking the Queen for the knight to keep his end of the deal they struck. It also had to be in couplet format, as part of the assignment. We did this in about half an hour and are proud of ourselves. Hope you enjoy!

*****

Dearest Queen,
Hear my plea.
I have helped the noble knight
Avoid his impending plight.
Now he wishes to not fulfill
Our bargain, our deal.
I only asked for a favor
To be realized later.
I upheld my end and gave him his solution
To prevent his execution.
Now I ask that he marry me.
I ask that he carry me
Through the end of our lives,
Not stab me in the back with words like knives.
I know I am not perfect
But the marriage will be worth it.
I am a witch
And can bestow upon him many gifts.
Besides,
If he does not, he must confess his lies.
His honor will be forever stained,
Death his only gain.
So do not be swayed by his words
Which are fleeting as the migrating birds.
Please, I beg, do not be a demon.
-Sincerely The Most Kind Woman
