The music that Y/n was humming along to died down as she parked the empty school bus in front of her agency. She had finally returned after practically wasting time by driving all the students home and avoiding the president's calls. "Boss-" "Oh hey Mai! Could you please have someone from the school come down and take care of this bus outside? Thanks." Y/n beamed when Mai ran up to her the second she stepped through the doors of her agency. "Yes. Boss the president called me-" "Ugh that wench." "-You're really needed, boss."
"It can wait.." Y/n grumbled, striding through the halls and making her way to her office. Mai jogged behind her to catch up and slipped into the office before Y/n could shut the door behind her. The office was definitely the most lavish room in the agency: the furniture was made of genuine leather, shelves and tables made of real African blackwood, countless medallions and prizes in many sports and martial arts, authentic paintings by renowned artists and a small statuette made of pure gold of the greek goddess of justice Themis, Y/n's namesake. She wasn't a cheap woman.
"Tsk. Mai I've had a rough day just please tell her to message me if it's that important, I'm not goin' there." She huffed. While she was talking, Y/n had pushed some sort of button and one of the bookshelves turned to reveal its backside, which was a small hidden bar. "The president said that it's about the group who attacked the kids today." Mai sternly informed. Y/n paused midway through pouring rum into her glass and turned towards her assistant clutching her clipboard. It's a rare sight to see her without it.
Mai gulped when Y/n's intimidating wide eyes met hers. Her eyes were black, unlike her usual standard grey. Y/n recognised the black, it usually appeared when Mai was extra serious. "Really?" She scoffed, her tongue prodded the inside of her cheek as she thought over the subject for a second. Y/n downed the half-poured glass of rum and walked away from the bar. "Do you want me to call Kishibe boss?" Mai asked, hurrying behind Y/n to catch up. "No. I need a car ready. I'll drive." "But the ru-" "It's less than half a glass I'm fine." She cut her off. Mai nodded.
This time, Y/n drove in silence. She was less than happy to step into the premises of the commission. Her past with them wasn't exactly the best. What they've done to her family... Her hands tightened on the steering wheel of her cabriolet and her foot lightly tapped on the gas. "Fucking scum.." She finally swerved into one of their parking lots and parked in a manner that can only be described as rude. But a little bad parking never hurt anyone, she was sure that parallel parking in a perpendicular parking lot wouldn't do any harm. Just please her petty soul.
She held a murderous stare, it was enough to make anyone avoid her gaze. "The president called for me." Y/n exhaled with a monotone voice. "I'm going to need ID or a badge number." The secretary hummed without looking up from her computer, she sounded annoyed. "Okay lady, you're going to need to tell the president that I left," Y/n muttered, turning on her heels at the slightest excuse to leave the building. She wasn't in the mood to deal with any of this. At least not booze-less. "O-oh! Miss Themis. Terribly sorry, follow me. The president has been waiting for you. She's going to be very pleased that you came." The girl rambled on and lead Y/n towards the president's office.
"Alright let me just knock for you-" "What the hell is it that was so important that you couldn't just send a damn email or something?" Y/n interrupted, electing to barge into the room instead. The blond woman sitting behind her desk nodded at the secretary who bowed slightly and closed the door behind her. Y/n frowned when she noticed Keigo sitting in front of the president. "What the hell is going on here?" She grumbled, plopping down on the couch facing Keigo's.
"I'm really glad you came..." The president sighed, fidgeting with the pearls wrapped around her neck. Oh, how Y/n wished to strangle her with them. "And I'm not. Explain quickly, I have places to be." She retorted. Y/n didn't have places to be, in fact, the school was closed for tomorrow because of the incident so she was planning on staying home and doing nothing. But anything was better than this. "Themis, you and Hawks here are both of exceptional talent and history. Your extensive history and sharpness have led me to believe that you two are perfect for the job. And especially with your recent displays of responsibility and drive Themis, I've read the report on what happened today. You were outstanding."
"Get to the point damn it. There's no point in buttering me up." She sneered. Keigo sent her a concerned glance. He knew of her temperament towards the commission, it worried him a lot. She had no care for what they would do to her. The blond woman took a deep breath. "I would like you two to go undercover and infiltrate the League of Villains and communicate their plans to us." Stunned silence filled the room. Y/n's jaw hung low and her eyes were as wide as saucers.
"...Excuse me?"
"Now Themis-" "I'm leaving." She snapped and sprung up to her feet. A spy. A spy? The thing she hated most in the world, the thing that broke apart her family. They wanted her to become one? To take up the mantle of the most horrible job in the world? Hell– she hunts commission villains down as a night job! How could she ever become one of those dirty assholes? Y/n flung the door open and took one step. "Ms. Tsutsumi please wait-"
"Don't you dare call me by my name. Not after what you did to my brother and sister!" Y/n burst, turning to glare at the blonde woman. "Ms. Tsu- Themis, you know that we had nothing to do with your brother's-" "Fuck you!" She slammed the door behind her and walked off, leaving Keigo– who stood up to step away with her– alone with the president. "Ma'am are you sure that Y/n should be involved in this, I could do it myself, this is a sensitive-" " I don't care Hawks. Convince her. You're friends aren't you?"
He pursed his lips at her question. Could he even call what they have a friendship anymore? They barely talk after the incident and she just pushes him away so much that he... He just wanted to give her the space she needed, but it's taken longer than he thought it would. "Yes ma'am." He mumbled and wandered off to follow Y/n. "Y/n wait-" "Don't even try Keigo I can't do that shit. Not for them." She shook her head and kept walking.
Keigo grabbed her hand and she turned to look at him. "Y/n, please. The president really has her mind set on you having this job. I tried to talk her out of it but it's no use. I know it's a sensitive subject after what happened with your brother, but it could be really helpful to the kids at U.A.-" "No Keigo, they fucking killed my brother and locked my sister up in jail! This isn't just a sensitive subject. I can't fucking do it! And I won't!" She fumed, harshly pulling her wrist away from his grip.
"Y/n what if they lock you up like they did with Lady Nagant-" "Then tell Kaina she has a new fucking roommate." Y/n hissed, taking him by surprise. "They won't dare, locking Themis up will cause four times the ruckus that it did when they locked Nagant up. My sister was a good hero, but she wasn't well-known." She gripped her car keys and turned away. "And you best fucking believe that I'm exposing these fuckers down to the bone if they even try to take me in." Y/n's voice rang before she took a turn and disappeared, leaving Keigo to stand alone in the hallway. Shocked, sad. She'd grown to be so ruthless. It was all the commission's fault, he knew that.
He just missed being close to her.
