"Alright, I'm going on break." Y/n sighed after clicking her microphone off. She slipped a cigarette from her pocket and placed it between her lips before peeling herself off of her chair. "Smoking? That'll kill ya' Y/n." Mic yawned while stretching his limbs. "Cut me some slack, this is my most PG-13 coping mechanism. I could do worse." She muttered and walked off. Mic and Aizawa shared a look before shrugging, the job's tough, and she has two. Two that they know of.
The hero cursed under her breath when she felt around for a lighter and didn't find any. She was about to shove the cig back into her pocket but as she walked through the hallways, she spotted a familiar frame that might be of help. Endeavor was scowling and leaning against a wall with his back turned to her. He had his arms folded into his chest and the most serious glare in his eyes. Y/n quickly tiptoed towards him before raising her hand with the cigarette to his lit beard. Endeavor frowned deeply and slowly turned to glare at Y/n, who released a puff of smoke into his face. "Thanks, sir." She smiled mischievously.
He wasn't a stranger to her shenanigans, he did mentor her for a while after all. Not her happiest memories, she thought he was way too stiff. "Themis." Endeavor spoke, dismay leaking from his voice. "Endeavorrr...." She responded with a smoulder, purposefully deepening her voice. He rolled his eyes at her mockery, making her chuckle. "What are you sitting and staring at?" She asked, tilting her head to try and get a look behind his wall of muscle. "Cigarettes? They'll worsen your performance as a hero and teacher." He scolded.
"You're not my boss anymore... Oh, I see what you're staring at. Don't worry, cigarettes won't make me a bad teacher for your precious son. He's doing just fine. Great even, one of my fastest learning students." She huffed, leaning on the wall and taking another pull from her cig. "Hmph. Good. I trust you'll be a good teacher to him like I was to you. I am glad you took this job, I trust you still remember what I taught you. Except for the parts where I stressed peak physical health. But you'll keep him in line. I don't know what other teachers might put into his mind."
Y/n rolled her eyes. "Yeah, sure bud. I'm not teaching him shit from what you taught me, nor will I be teaching him in the same way you taught me. In my class, he's a free man, and he'll learn what I teach from my experience, not yours. He has you stickin' to him all his time off of school, this is my domain. Now excuse me, sir." She sourly retorted before she exhaled a gust of smoke in his direction and shoved past him. Y/n walked over to where Shoto was standing quietly and looking at his phone.
She paused beside him, the hand that was holding the cigarette hidden behind her back, and patted his shoulder with her free hand. "You did great out there Todoroki. I noticed that side elbow you tried to land on Bakugou. The one I taught in class. Great attempt, but use your shoulder more next time." She smiled gently. Todoroki nodded and thanked her. "I will keep that in mind miss." He hummed.
Her phone started to buzz furiously, making her frown. "Go get ready for the next round..." She mumbled, her eyes glued to the phone. When he walked away, Y/n slipped the cigarette into her mouth and answered the call. Government-issued number, this could only mean trouble. "Themis speaking. What do you want?" She asked with a demanding tone. "Ma'am. I'm sorry for disturbing you, I know you're managing the festival but... A hero has been struck down by Stain the hero killer." A male voice spoke from the other end of the line. "Stain? He's active again? He's been gone for a year..." She muttered, mostly to herself.
"Yes. Stain managed to flee. This was on the route that you patrol during your night shift so we're mandated to warn you. You might cross paths with him." "Who was the hero?" Y/n asked before he could end the call. "Ingenium, ma'am." She slid her phone into her pocket after clicking 'end call' and shoved the lit tip of her cigarette into her bare palm, snuffing out the flames. "No no no... fuck. You're making this really hard for me to keep ignoring... Damn it." Y/n paced up and down the hallway, hearing the muffled sounds of Present Mic announcing the start of the second round outside.
