"Tell me, as the Lady who is at the top of the social chain, who is the perfect Marriage candidate?" he asked finally sitting up straight.
"MARRIAGE?!" she shouted out and dropped the document.
"Yes, my brother declined marriage so now the Emperor is coming after me. Perhaps he wishes to sell me off to a family." Vincent said. Aurora rolled her eyes. It was most likely not going to happen.
"In all honesty. I don't want to get married if it won't benefit me. All those candidates are either useless or from another Empire which means the Emperor will sell me off to them. If I decline them all, I might as well kiss my title goodbye." Vincent said hanging his head over the back rest of the couch to look at Aurora behind him. She lightly hit him the document which she retrieved from the floor.
"I told you before your Highness, people aren't only objects. Don't call these ladies useless." she said and stared at him while his head was upside down.
"I really should report you for bad mouthing and abusing an Imperial Family member..." he mumbled.
Come to think of it, why hadn't he yet? She's been acting without thinking around him. Maybe it was because of the intense fear she felt around him that made her act that way? She had been carelessly doing as she pleased to the Crown Prince.
Her body couldn't help but tremble at the sight of him. After his abusive using of her as a doll in the past it was only natural.
Vincent noticed her sudden mood change and her hands clinging to the paper as they trembled.
"I was merely joking my dear..." he said in a playful manner but she did not hear. She was lost in her thoughts and her mind flooded with the bad memories of the novel. Of him. Of his constant abuse. Of his harsh words. He used her. She suddenly felt uncomfortable being there. Like she was going to break down at anytime.
This was her life now. Was she ever going to see her family again?
"I think it is time for me to return to my home." she said.
"Are you sure? You haven't even finished your tea?" Vincent said. He sat up to look at her but before he could stop her, she was at the door.
"Goodbye your Highness." she said and left. He sat there, feeling uneasy.
"Dang it." he said to himself. He wondered if it had something to do with what he had said. But then he shook it off. He had no businesses with her. He merely wanted to hear about her debt situation after all.
Her mind kept dwelling back on yesterday. But she couldn't afford it to fall behind now. She had sort out this debt.
About two days later, Lena reported to her that the Genras had dissapeared. She knew it wasn't going to be this easy but she also didn't think they would flee. She sat on the couch biting her nail.
She needed more time. The deadline was in a week. If she just had more time she could make a plan to earn that money.
Then the idea hit her.
"Lena! Get me paper!" she said. Lena did so and she started writing for a request for an audience to see Vincent.
Unfortunately when his reply came, he told her that his day was already full. By then half of the day was already gone. She then wrote to someone she never thought she would have to. The second prince.
