Sirius struggled through the underbrush near Lupin Cottage. He snuck around the house, checking for a light in the windows. It looked deserted. He opened the back door with the key that he knew was lying under one of the flower pots. The escaped convict made his way into the house and looked around for any sign of his friend. Making his way up the stairs, he picked up discarded sweaters and jackets. He folded the clothes over a chair in Moony's bedroom. He saw a discarded cardigan under the bed and picked it up. He lifted it to his nose and inhaled the smell. It smelled like chocolate, parchment and scar salve. A tear rolled down the man's cheek as he took in the familiar scent.

Remus sat in the shrieking shack and looked at the scratches on the walls. Each one had a story. He closed his eyes and thought about his friends. James, wearing funny vintage T-Shirts and thrifted clothes despite being an heir to a huge fortune; Sirius, wearing nail polish, eyeliner and dancing in the rain. He didn't even think about Peter. Ever since he had glanced his name on the map, he knew he was a traitor. If Pettigrew was alive, that meant Siri was innocent.

Sirius paced the shack thinking about how he could get his hands on Pettigrew. The stupid rat had ruined their lives. He had killed Lily and Prongs. The Grim made his way out the hidden path and, to his surprise, saw Harry and his friends walk near. The dog dashed towards Ron and clutched his leg. He dragged the boy into the tunnel leading to the shack. Hermione and Harry called out and tried following him. Sirius ran as quickly as he could. He shoved Ron onto the bed and quickly retreated into the corner to transform.

Harry and Hermione rushed in to see Ron pointing at Sirius. Harry tackled him and threatened to kill him. Sirius was confused at first before he saw the rage in Harry's eyes. Lily's eyes. The boy meant it. To the animagus' relief, Remus rid Harry of his wand. He helped Sirius up of the floor and embraced him in a tight hug. Remus tried his best to keep his composure. Sirius looked so far from the careless teen he once knew. They pulled apart.

Remus stood and tried to explain the circumstances to Harry and his friends. It was difficult reasoning with the three scared Gryffindors, especially since Sirius was constantly trying to lunge for Ron's rat. When they were interrupted by Snape, Harry's Expelliarmus gave him just enough time to explain the situation.

Sirius made quick work of the rat by petrifying the animagus. Harry and Remus levitated the Snape and Sirius stuffed the stiff rat in his pocket.

Remus turned into the wolf as his eyes landed on the full moon. Sirius quickly shoved the rat into Harry's pocket and barked at them to get up to the castle. Ron and Hermione levitated Snape while Harry made his way up to the castle. Meanwhile, Sirius turned and jumped on the werewolf's back. The two rolled around until Padfoot was shoved off the wolf's back and hit his head against a rock, laying unconscious. The wolf suddenly yelped as he realised that his mate was lying there, injured. The beast carefully grabbed the dog with his sharp teeth, taking care not to injure him more. He made his way back to the shack where he deposited the animagus on the bed and curled up on the floor, keeping an eye on his mate.

Back at the castle, Minister Fudge and Dumbledore were taking a close look at the rat. Dumbledore cast a quick Homorphus Charm at the rat and they watched as it turned into the supposedly-dead Peter Pettigrew. Minister Fudge declared Sirius innocent on the spot and ordered the Dementors back to Azkaban without delay. Meanwhile, Hermione and Harry were travelling back in time to save a hippogryph.

Remus woke up early in the morning back in his human body. He quickly checked himself and cast healing charms at his newest wounds. He looked lovingly at the little stars tattooed around the scar on his chest, arranged in the Canis Major constellation. That's when he jumped up to check on his friend. The other man was lying on the bed, turning in his sleep, silent tears rolling down his cheeks. Remus took off his jacket and laid it on the smaller man. Sirius stopped turning but tears were still flowing down his face. The lycanthrope carefully woke him up by shaking his shoulders. "Siri, Padfoot. Wake up, love," he mumbled quietly. Sirius carefully opened his eyes before pulling away from Remus. The werewolf would have been offended had he not remembered the 12 years of confinement his friend had gone through.

Sirius slowly took in his surroundings before getting closer to Remus and putting his hand on the other guy's cheek. His touch was gentle and unsure, as if he was afraid Remus was just a figment of his imagination. "It's you. It's really you," he cried. Remus nodded his head and enveloped Sirius in a tight hug. The two just sat there. Remus burried his nose in Sirius' hair. He could just about make out the smell of cigarettes, wet dog and coffee.

Sirius and Remus finally pulled apart only for Remus to apparate them to his home. He noticed the picked up clothes and directed an accusing look at Sirius. The animagus gave him an innocent smile. Remus chuckled and gestured for Sirius to follow him upstairs.

As Sirius was showering, Remus picked out a few clothes. He found the first pair of boxer shorts, then he chose a Metallica shirt that Sirius had made him get once upon a time. Remus grabbed a pair of ripped Levi's jeans and fuzzy socks. He scanned the room before grabbing the cardigan on his chair. He laid the clothes out on the bed and went down to the kitchen to prepare Sirius some food.

When he arrived downstairs, an owl was sitting on his table with a letter. He took the letter and checked what it was. It was addressed to Lord Sirius Orion Black from Amelia Bones, chief of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Remus contained his curiosity and put the letter back. The owl had already left. He proceeded to make some eggs and bacon and coffee.

Sirius came out of the shower and giggled a little at the clothes Remus had laid out for him. He put them on and brought the sleeves of the cardigan to his nose. He inhaled deeply. Despite his usual rough style, Remus' cardigan was his absolute favourite piece of clothing. He found a brush and brushed out his still wet hair before putting it up in a messy bun. His sensitive nose smelled the bacon and he hurried down.

Remus was standing there, dishing out breakfast with cheeks rosy from the stove's heat. Sirius remembered why he had fallen in love with the beautiful boy. "Morning, Remy" he said as he hugged Remus once more. "Morning, darling" answered the taller boy. Sirius giggled at the pet name. He sat down and opened the letter addressed to him. His eyebrows shot up in surprise and a single tear fell down his cheek. Remus was instantly worried. "What's wrong love? What is it?" he asked. Sirius looked the boy he loved in the eyes. "I'm free, Remus. I'm innocent!" he said. Remus brought him into a hug.

Remus was forced to quit his job, but he was alright because Sirius made sure to provide for him. They got in touch with the Weasley twins and agreed to help them bring their idea for a joke store to fruition. The two Marauders lived together happily. They both had their demons still, but now they had each other to help.
