"is she okay?" kakyoin whispered quietly into shelly's ear as he looked at y/n's slouched form in concern.

ever since lunch break started, y/n join them but had been unusually quiet. she had barely touched her food either as she played with a piece of broccoli with her fork.

shelly frowned, 'of course something is wrong and i have strong feeling why.' she thought but didn't didn't respond to kakyoin.

"so, y/n!" shelly clapped her hands together to get the girl's attention, y/n' gaze met her eyes, the flesh around her eyes slightly puffy as if she's been crying.

'that bastard...' shelly screamed internally.

"kakyoin and i were thinking we should hit the arcades after school, to blow off some steam and just some chill out time? right kakyoin?" she smiled brightly as she nudged her leg against his under the table, kakyoin immediately caught on. they had never planned anything for after school today, but there was some cheering up they needed to do. "yes! and we were thinking of getting some good food after too, that new restaurant that just opened has been very popular recently. we should definitely try it out." he added.

the two looked at y/n hopefully.

y/n parted her lips before shutting them again, she looked down at the food in front of her.

"i," she mumbled softly, before looking up and seeing the two smiling like the goofy idiots they were. the two that she now considered her closest friends, friends that she had struggled to make in the past. people that she didn't realise had become so close to her heart, that were so precious to her.

despite the absolute shit day she was having so far, being with them felt like everything might just be okay.

oh man, i love you guys so much.

she felt like crying again, but not in a sad way; ya know?

"you know what, fuck yea. let's do it!" y/n nodded her head enthusiastically, grinning like a idiot.

there was a time to feel sad over those events, but right now she just wanted to appreciate the time she had with her dear friends.

let's just forget everything and live in the moment for now.

a temporary escape.

"dude what the fuck was that combo?" shelly complains as she shoves kakyoin playfully,
"literally feels like you've hacked into the damn game and broke the system!" y/n adds as she walked alongside the two.

kakyoin lets out a loud and overly dramatic chuckle, "i told you ladies i am the master of video games! the ultimate boss, the ruler of them of all!" he exclaims dramatically like some ripoff movie villain.

"yeah yeah, keep shitting outta your ass..." shelly rolled her eyes, y/n laughed at her ridiculous insult.

"you were soooo cheating~" y/n says as she jokingly poke his arm. kakyoin sighs as he shakes his head in disappointment, "no no, you amateurs wouldn't understand annnything about video games. i'm telling you guys, what you saw back there was a master at work." he grins.

"and that's why you get no bitches." shelly adds.

"the readers wouldn't agree with you." kakyoin says with a smirk.

"what?"

"what?"

"huh?"

"you know you didn't have to walk me all the way back home right, cherry boy." y/n smiled up at her red headed companion.

kakyoin awkwardly clears his throat as he slightly turns his face away from the girl, his cheek dusted pink. he was still not used to that nickname.
