the sound of distance chatter mixed with the machines operating and the overwhelming smell of mixed chemicals, y/n hated the hospital.

humming quietly to herself as she picked at an old scab on her knee, a bad habit she'd had developed since a child. perhaps it was due to the anxiety chewing away at her after all the adrenaline from the fight had worn off.

she had been ignoring the boy sitting one seat away from her, the gap between the two had never felt so distant. it wasn't because she didn't want to talk to him, it was because she didn't know what to say. the fight had forced them to work together but before that they were basically ignoring each other's existences.

y/n sneaked a quick glanced at the raven haired boy who was playing around with his lighter out of boredom and wondered if they will ever go back to talking like the past again. despite his mean and grumpy attitude, she really missed having him around.

the door of the operating room creaked open, gaining the twos attention.
"thankfully you two bought her in just in time, her condition is now stable." the doctor said while he removed his scrubs.

y/n let out a relieved sigh she didn't even realise she had been holding in. "thank goodness, thank you doctor." she responded politely.

"well thanks to you two, i'm not even sure how you guys did it but that man has been terrorising our neighbourhood for awhile now and i've just been told that he's now under police custody." the doctor added, looking at the two through tired, overworked eyes.

"that's great. will we be able to visit the lady now?" y/n asked out of curiosity. the doctor shook his head in response, "not yet, she's still very tried after the operation and will need to rest but she wanted to you two know that once she feels better she would like to thank you two properly." he said.

"sounds good, thank you once again! it's getting late now so i'll take my leave." y/n said as she got up from her seat, the doctor nodded and bid her goodnight.

quickly, she started making her way through the corridors of the hospital. the thought of her angry mother wondering where she was waiting for her back home kept the teen fast on her heels, while she walked she tried to come up with the best possible excuse for why she was late.
so deep in thought that she didn't even hear the heavier pair of footsteps following her closely.

as she made her way out of the hospital and onto the dimly lit footpath, y/n let out a loud frustrated sigh. after all that time, she still couldn't think of anything good to tell her mother. she was definitely going to be in a lot of trouble.

"what's wrong with you now?" the deep voice behind her grumbled, causing her to snap her head around in surprise.

"jotaro? why are you still here?" y/n asked, eyeing the boy suspiciously.

"walking you back of course, dumbass." he replied sounding lightly annoyed as he took a drag from his cigarette.

the teen stopped in her steps as she let out a groan and turned to face the tall boy, "i don't need you to, okay? just go back to leaving me alone." she snapped, her tone surprising herself slightly. she didn't even mean for the last part to come out.

an awkward moment of silence passed between the two as they just stared at each other. y/n looked at the face that she couldn't but be incredibly attracted to to find any sort of emotion or how he was feeling; yet jotaro's expression remained blank as he stared back at her.
