I got up and stretched. It had been a while since I had woken up before my alarm. Although Sunday wasn't as great as Saturday, I did sleep early and without stress.
But yet again, another week of school. I do like studying and the likes, but it can get tiring after years of doing the same thing.
I got ready and walked downstairs. My mom wasn't in the kitchen nor was she in the living room, or anywhere. She didn't leave any notes either.
Strange.
I took the keys from the bowl in the doorway and grabbed my bag before locking the door and putting the key in my pocket.
I didn't take my normal route today and just headed straight to school. When I arrived, Finn wasn't there which was expected since he wasn't a morning person.
I parked my bicycle and walked to the entrance. I got my books from my locker and entered the class. Axel was sitting in my chair and grinning at me.
"Took you long enough."
I dropped my bag by his chair and sat down.
"No glasses today?" He asked.
I stared blankly at him. "Do I n-not look good without th-them?"
"No, you look good either way." He smirked.
I covered my face and Axel chuckled. He told me that he'd always come to school earlier than I did. I didn't get to ask him why, but he suggested that I'd come earlier too.
"S-so... I wanted to ask you s-something."
"What is it?"
"Wh-why were you b-beat up the time that I met you." I asked.
Axel looked down and fiddled with his hands. Something I had gotten used to seeing. He then breathed in and out repeatedly.
"Y-you don't have to a-answer if you don't want to."
"N-no. It's just that I didn't want to bring Bella into our conversations since you probably wouldn't feel comfortable if I do."
"Did she do that to you?"
"What? No! It was her...ex-boyfriend."
"Did you do something to him to make him that way?"
"I didn't. He's just a jerk."
I didn't stop looking at Axel. I was confused. Why would someone get beaten up for no reason? I mean that could happen, but why was Bella involved?
Axel looked at me and probably figured out that I didn't understand what he was saying because he held his hair up and sighed.
"Ok. Like I said, her ex-boyfriend ambushed me with some guys because I apparently took her away from him."
"H-how?"
"W-we...had a thing before."
"But I thought you said-"
"Yes. That was then and this is now. We have nothing like that going on anymore."
"A-are you guys still d-doing that pretending act?"
"Yes...but there's nothing more going on."
"How am I supposed to be sure?"
"We're not as close and she's in a new relationship."
"But what if you're supposed to act all lovey-dovey in front both of your parents?"
"Th-Then I'll think of something..."
"What?"
Someone opened the door and I flinched. I looked a the time on my watch. We spent a lot of time talking, yet we barely said anything.
