Axel rested his hand on my back and lowered his head to look at me.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
I looked at him and sighed. I was just overreacting. I was being silly. Axel continued to look at me with worried eyes. I felt terrible for acting this way. I leaned back, and Axel put away his hand,
"I'm sorry. I'm just...tired."
Axel continued to stare, and I felt pressured.
Should I tell him? How should I say it? How would he react? Would he hate me? Would we fight?
I was so engrossed in my thoughts that I didn't hear Axel calling me.
"Nate!" he shouted.
I flinched. Axel looked...angry. I placed my hands on my lap and closed my eyes.
"W-what d-did you guys t-talk about?" I stammered.
"Huh?"
"You and B-Bella. What d-did you t-talk about?"
My heart was beating so fast. I didn't know why. Did I think he was not going to tell me? Maybe he would have made a weird face and dismissed it.
Axel pushed his hair back and looked back at me almost disappointed. I was confused. He then rested his head on my shoulder.
"Was that the only thing you wanted to ask?"
"W-what do you mean?"
"I thought you were about to tell me you wanted to break up. I nearly had a heart attack." He giggled nervously as he intertwined our fingers with each other.
"Back there," he started, "when Bella called me, she asked me about you."
"Me?"
"She asked if you invited me, and how we knew each other."
"What? Why?"
"Hey, calm down." he said while stroking my hand, "I told her we were dating, and that was that."
"Really?" I asked, a bit unsure since something else must've happened based on the look on their faces.
"Also," Axel added, "I actually want to know how you and Caleb got close."
I snickered. "Are you jealous?" I knew that was an unfair question since I was the one who questioned every single thing that happened to Axel, and I don't really know why I asked even though I knew the answer.
"I just want to know." He pouted.
"I mean, don't you see us talking in class? You literally sit right beside me."
"I saw you guys but I didn't want to say anything about it since you might not have wanted me to pry."
For a moment, I felt happy that I wasn't the only one with this anxiety. The thought that Axel also hesitated to ask me something because he thought I wouldn't like it."
"It just happened, I guess. It wasn't anything special. Although he was a jerk at first."
"A jerk? To you? My beloved?"
"Beloved?"
"You don't like it?"
"Mm, not really."
"Cupcake?"
"Uh..."
"Darling? Baby? Babe? None of those?"
" I don't know...they're...common names.
"You want something unique?" He smirked.
I nodded.
"Uh... Modi?
