Luckily, I slept quite well. I got up and got ready then before I headed downstairs, I stared at my glasses.
Should I wear them?
I shrugged and put them on. They were more comfortable anyway. When I got downstairs, mom had already made breakfast.
I ate it, washed my plates, got my lunch, and headed out. I took my bicycle from the garage and began my journey.
I had enough time to go through my normal route, so I did. When I reached the place I first saw Axel, it felt weird.
Who could've done that?
He didn't seem like someone that could get beat up. I couldn't even ask him anymore. After it yesterday, it was going to be so awkward. I hadn't thought about it.
I shook my head and continued pedaling. I reached the end of the path and turned back. Riding my bicycle really helps me out. It's like the wind just steals all of my thoughts. I like it though.
I got to school and parked my bicycle. I thought that I wouldn't see Finn, but he was waiting for me. It made me feel a bit happy. I walked up to him and stretched out my hands for a hug.
He avoided me and high-fived my hand instead. I slowly lowered my hands and looked at him, but he looked away.
"Ah...s-sorry." I muttered.
"N-no you did nothing." He scratched his hair.
We looked close as we walked, but I could feel the distance. He seemed so far away. I clenched my sweater. I didn't like it.
We got to the lockers and I got my stuff. Finn got his too and we went to class. Like yesterday, Axel was already sitting at his desk. Sleeping. I still thought it was cute, but I looked away immediately after I thought of it.
I went to my desk and settled down. I had nothing to do. I could've been talking to Finn or even Axel if he had woken up. But even if he did, I don't think I could've been able to. I
looked inside my bag and saw the handkerchief Michael had given me. I washed it yesterday and put it in there. I didn't even remember.
I looked at the window. It had a good view of the field. Some people were training as the couch shouted orders. I heard that a competition was coming up. Maybe that's why.
For some reason, we had a lot of time before homeroom. Everybody talked with themselves as I just rested in my chair. I didn't notice when Axel woke up.
He tapped my shoulder and I slowly turned to him.
"Do you feel better today?" He asked.
"Y-yeah."
"Great." he smiled.
"A-aren't you m-mad?" I asked quietly.
"Why would I be? Yesterday you needed some time alone to gather your thoughts."
"You s-seem to und-understand much."
Axel looked at his desk and played with his fingers, "I've had time like that."
There was so much that I didn't know about Axel. Why he was hurt, the whole meaning of his relationship with Caleb's sister, his hobbies, and everything about him.
All I knew was that he was good-looking and good with words. Axel looked at me and I realized that I had been staring at him all the while.
He chuckled. "You're so cute." he blurted.
I laughed awkwardly and turned away.
What did he mean by that? Was he joking? Was he serious?
I was down bad for this guy, and I couldn't understand why. Before I could think about it anymore, Mr. Lawrence came into class.
