"You should come!" Eddie exclaimed loudly to the girl beside him.
"What?" Kathy asked, she had been too consumed in watching him rant that she wasn't listening to what he was saying.

The pair currently resided in Eddie's trailer. It's where they spent most of their time together, god knows what Kathy's father would do to her if she brought a boy around.

"To Hellfire! It'd be fun." He smiled carelessly. Kathy blushed and looked away, not been able to handle the intimacy of his gaze. Looking up at the ceiling instead of meeting his eyes, she considered his offer.

Of course, El and Mike would be there. It's not that she didn't love El and didn't like Mike, but she felt like she'd be intruding on her sisters private time.

Eddie seemed to sense her anguish, probably because of the way her brows furrowed. "Hey, you don't have to come. It'd just be nice to see my favourite girl there." He smiled again in an effort to console her.

It did, it always did.

"It's not that-" she started, "it's just- I don't know how my sister would feel about it. Jane?" El went by a fake name legally, the bullying she'd endure if people found out her name was a number would be severe, so Jane is safer.

"Jane? She'd love it!" Kathy turns her head as much as the dingy carpet allows her while furrowing her brows a second time. "Seriously, she adores you. She always talks about you."

The confession made Kathy's heart swell slightly. Eleven had a hard time expressing her emotions, like love, so Kathy was happy that her sister truly did care about her.

"Okay- yeah. I'll come." Kathy relents, and Eddie jumps up in accomplishment, bringing Kathy along with him. The pair share a laugh as Eddie slings his girl around haphazardly, not a care in the world.

Only one thought goes through Kathy's head, he's perfect. Absolutely perfect.

It's Thursday, finally, Kathy thinks. The few hours between Wednesday and Thursday were too long for Kathy. She was so excited to pop in Hellfire today.

When she'd told her sister after returning to her humble little cabin, her face exploded into a smile and she ran to her bedroom, presumably to call Mike.

Unfortunately, Kathy hadn't seen Eddie all day. She didn't share any classes with him and she had a lunchtime detention (she was talking to Willow about where she was going after school in class) so she hadn't even looked at him.

This made the girl all the more excited to join her boyf- her favourite boy and his friends in his cute little dnd club.

Kathy was nervous, she couldn't just pretend it was excitement either. She wanted to ask Eddie if he would be her boyfriend after Hellfire was over.

It'd be sweet, driving in his van, she would ask, he would look over at her and smile before reaching up and connecting their lips, everything a girl could dream of.

She realised she could trust him now, after all the deliberating and late nights thinking about it, she decided he could be trusted. He didn't have a fault, he didn't lie or pretend, the way he looked at her, you can't fake that.

She loved him, how couldn't she? He was the perfect guy.

Anxiously tapping her foot as she watched the final minutes of class tick by, her palms got sweatier and her legs shook more rapidly until she heard the angelic noise of the bell.

She didn't waste a second packing her stuff away, and she waved goodbye to Willow before speed walking to the music room.

Eddie had told her over the phone that everyone got there pretty quick, but she didn't have to worry about being late. "We'll wait as long as we have too, sweetheart." But she wanted to be there, she wanted to see Eddie.

It seemed luck was not on her side today however, and she was stuck on the opposite side of the school. Then she decided she needed to use the bathroom.

She did her business and washed her face with cold water to fend off her nerves. Why was she so anxious, it was just Eddie and he loves her, she needs to calm down.

Shaking her hands one more time, she exists the toilet, and heads straight to the music room.

Eventually she reached her desired location and hears a quiet chatter. Just as she was about to open the door and let herself in, she hears her name.

"Has anyone seen Kathy? She's taking forever." It's Eddie, he doesn't sound mad, more desperate than anything.
"Nah man," it's Dustin this time, "by the way, how are things going with her?"

They know? Kathy thinks to herself. I mean, they are his best friends, of course they had to know.

"Yeah, she totally all over you yet?" It's Lucas speaking now. Kind of a weird way to put it, but whatever. Eddie hasn't replied yet, being bombarded by the freshman.

"I appreciate it very much. My sister has always objected to relationships, so I'm happy that she's happy." Now it's Eleven, Kathy can practically feel her smile through the door.

"Paying you to date her was totally worth it. My girl is happy, my girls sister is happy, and you got $50 bucks!" Mike exclaims, everyone in the room laughs, and Kathy's heart breaks.

Kathy flees before she can hear another word out of anyone. She's devastated, who wouldn't be? She was lied too, again. She felt like she was destined to be unhappy, to forever be with liars and man-whores.

How could she have possibly convinced herself that someone actually loved her. That has never happened, and it never will. Kathy felt like a complete idiot. I'm so naive, so entirely stupid.

Her shoes squeaked in the hallway as she ran, she didn't care and she didn't look back. Kathy ran all the way home, ran until it felt like her lungs were about to explode.

Cheap mascara was running down her cheeks as she sobbed. When she entered her home it felt cold, desolate. It felt as though it was rejecting her, and nobody was there to comfort her.

Her dad was working and her sister lied to her. She felt betrayed and alone. Completely alone. Kathy wrapped up in her blanket, still fully clothed and fell asleep crying. Fucking idiot.
