It was exactly thirteen minutes since I'd walked out onto the field and saw Mr Cute Guy again. God, that's so creepy. I think I would have barfed except...
We were doing summer games in PE, Lord knows why. I hated everything about PE. Then again, who doesn't?! Except for the sports freaks out there, and that's the small minority. I was partnered with Cute, so I took on a tactic from Legally Blonde: the bend and snap. No, that's not as weird as you think it is. Or what ever you think it it's not, unless you've seen the movie and know what I'm talking about. I had a tennis ball in my hand, and "clumsily" let go of it.
"Sorry, I guess I'll have to get that!" But my plan went wrong. As I went to pick it up, he lent down too and... Our hands touched!!! Hash tag dreamiest, cutest moment ever. He was dreamily glaring into my eyes. "THANK YOU REESE WITHERSPOON!" I happily squealed, unable to say anything else. I was like on cloud nine now. So happy. So happy nothing could bring me back down to Earth.
"Back into the changing rooms. It's gonna rain." Screams ensued, rippling through the open air like the river once someone has stepped in it.
Oh, shit! I moaned inside my head. Just when things were going swimmingly. Ha, great pun considering I'm walking while everyone's running and getting soaked. Looks like I'll be swimming in these clothes. Once again; yay! (And I say "yay" with a very healthy helping of sarcasm.)
"Oh my God, Liz." Reno sarkily remarked. She was standing next to Aimee and stifling a giggle.
I dragged out a long sigh. "What?" More (stifled) giggling.
"You look like a drowned rat!" A brief silence filled the space, but it was then consumed by laughter.
"Ha. Ha." I choked dryly. God, sometimes my friends could be sarcastic bitches. But sometimes I needed that sarcasm. Wrestling with my scrunchie behind my back, I accidentally elbowed Aimee in the face. "God, sorry!" I could see her expression flattening.
"It's fine, really, just, be more careful." Said with so. Much. Sarcasm. Why?
"Okay." I murmured before the scrunchie flew out of my hair and my soaked locks poufed all around me and proceeded to drop on to my hood. Great, now I'll have to explain to the teachers why I'm using the hand dryers as my hair dryer... Again. For like the fifty second time this year. Woopee!
I saw Reno and Aimee run for their dear lives as the gate was about to be locked. I didn't notice as my mind picked that moment to be caught up in day dreams. I looked to the gate from the trees and the sky realising how stupid I was, even though it was only for a mere ten seconds or so. Oh, no!
My legs carried me as fast as I could go only to discover that the gate had been locked just about a minute before. Again, I dragged out a long sigh. Who the hell is that?! I felt a hand on my shoulder.
Getting ready to slap whoever it was, I speedily turned on my heel.
It's you.. It's him. Again. The cute -
For a split second he looked distantly at me, then he reached for my head and fiddled amorously with a lock of my hair, twisting it in between his thumb, first, and second fingers. Damn, that's - I couldn't help but look at his adorable boyish smile as he looked at - "You really shouldn't day dream, you know." An expression of confusion spread across my face.
"What?" I barely breathed out. He continued to fiddle with my hair, his gaze, this time, flickering between my eyes and my chest brown lock of hair.
"Did you dream of me?" I could feel his gaze burning into me, as if his eyes were a thousand hot firecrackers. My breath (and my sentence) were caught in my throat, ceasing to be voiced. Is he going absolutely bananas?! Again, my face settled in a look of pure confusion and overwhelmed - ness. I felt my eyes popping out of my head. Ow!
He grabbed my hand and led me to a pink cherry blossom tree. The summer rain made it glimmer like the tree was full of stars as well as budding fruit. I gasped at its beauty, a joyous smile spreading across my face. "Do you like it?" I silently nodded. My hand was hurting, because he was holding it so hard, but I didn't have a care in the world, because I'd rather have my hand held by him than be in school stuck in the changing rooms right now. Wait...
He lifted his hand and started playing with my hair again. "Ah! I'm so glad. Because here, I want to tell you something."
"Yes?" I said softly. He breathed a sigh of relief and gained composure.
"Li.. Lizzy, I... I think... Elizabeth Carter..." I could feel his hand tensing in mine.
"Yes?" I said even softer than the first time. I softly and questioningly gazed into his eyes. I could feel his grip tightening.
"I think..." I wanted to scream "WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!" but then he lent in and kissed me. My eyes popped open in surprise, my arms flailing as his arms silkily slipped around my waist. My arms placed themselves around his neck. Pop! Last but not least, as if it was part of my surprise reaction, my foot popped, like some girl in the twenties. Gently, not to let the moment go, I closed my eyes, letting my mind swirl and my dreams reinvent themselves from his kiss.
Little drops of rain effortlessly dripped onto the both of us. I could feel something landing on my head. Ew..
The kiss broke, my foot dragged itself back to the floor, causing my feet to rise onto their three quarter point, and my eyes to open, leading to a dreamy, clichéd, but ever so lovingly wonderful gaze that we shared. His hands stayed on my waist, the gaze never parting.
"I think I'm in love with you. No," He paused, "I know I'm in love with you, but the question is -"
"Shh." I gently placed my second finger onto his lip and bit mine. I studied the image. A French - manicure against the most heavenly pair of lips a boy could ever have. Did I just say that?
His eyebrow raised and his lips curved in a smile as I voiced my thoughts out loud. Oh, what a time. We both softly giggled, his hands still on my waist, my arms draped around his neck. Our heads touched, our noses balancing on each other.
I couldn't resist. I jumped, sort of, just rose on my feet, and leaned in to kiss him again.
My eyes dreamily gazed at his, our faces just inches apart. "Yes." I bit my lip, still gazing into his eyes, "Now I know it's okay to be in love." He kissed my head and we held both of our hands in each other's, standing a tiny way apart.
His eyes drifted to my head. "Ooh, look." With his cute chuckle, he picked up the thing that had landed on my head during my, I mean, our first kiss. My breath, and my sentence, once again, caught in my throat. The pink cherry blossom.
He picked it effortlessly off of my head. "Come on beautiful girl. Let's make you even more beautiful." My hair was draped behind my right ear as the blossom was placed there like a clip. Ah!
I could feel a cold chill on my back. Mrs Davidson.
"Get the hell in here, you two, now!"
As we stepped through the gate, she threateningly whispered to us, "I never thought I'd say this to either of you, but quit the lovey - dovey act right now."
God, we were in for it now.
