'Farah, Biznillah get ready quick. The wedding is starting in an hour time. You are not the bride for Allah's sake!' Mum yelled from the sitting room
I rolled my eyes and hissed for the 100th time as the mascara stained my makeup
'Oh God. I wish Jeedarh was here, she could have done this for me. She was a perfect makeup artist. And here I am, battling with just mascaras' I said to myself trying to use a tissue to carefully wipe out the place the mascara had stained
'Farah, please come down. Salma is waiting outside and you know she has to be there on time you are not the bride, so stop taking eternity to get dressed.' Mum said coming into the room
I might sound Cliche. But my mum is actually the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Ya Allah, she has give birth to 5 kids but her beauty still remains.
People do say that none of us beauty matches up to hers, they use to say it was obvious her beauty was shared equally but she still is more beautiful than we are.
They say, my elder sister Falaq is the only one whose beauty is just like hers.
Falaq is really very beautiful, at times I really do wish I was like her. Although, they say I'm also as beautiful but I don't believe that.
'You see mummy. You said yourself I am not the bride so why would I be there early' I said trying to wear my ear rings
I was putting on a long gown, that was fitted below the chest level and flay to the bottom. It was a blue dress designed with a lot of stones.
Mum had ordered it for me specially for this occasion. Mum's elder sister's youngest daughter is getting married, and today is her last dinner night as a single person. It is more like a tradition we do in our family, not really something deep
The friends and close relatives of the bride and groom will be in attendance, just for the youngies. So mum isn't going
Falaq's second child is down with Fever and she has to take care of her so she wouldn't be able to come for the party.
Jeedarh, my cousin from my mum's side, my mum's younger sister's daughter who is my age mate has been there since yesterday because she wants to be the one to inspect Laila's party before it starts.
How Lame!
Now I'm stuck with Salma, Aunty Rabi's daughter, mum's cousin's daughter who is too simple to worry about makeup.
'Mummy, can you help me tie my turban?' I asked mum sweetly. She looked at me then eyed me before collecting it from me and making me sit in front of the dressing mirror
'Since when did you start asking me to tie your head gear for you, rather its vices versa She said while tying it.
She rounded up and gave me my small bag before pushing me out of the room.
'Mummy nauuu, let me at least look at myself one more time' I said trying to get back into the room.
'If I slap you, you've been getting dressed for the past two hours now and you still want to look at yourself. You look beautiful, so good' She said dragging me down the stairs.
'Let me eat something' I said trying to go to the dining
'Eat what, you know Jeedarh has definitely kept something for you there. You just like been late to every ceremony' She Said carrying her veil and dragging me outside the door
I saw Salma's car parked outside the gate immediately we stepped outside the gate
This woman literally opened the door for me and made sure I sat down before closing it and greeting Salma then going back inside
'I've been waiting here for like 10 minutes now' Salma said igniting the car engine
'Toh, I was getting dressed. Salma!!!' I said finally looking at her face
She was putting on light makeup, she literally doesn't put anything on her face. Alhamdulillah she is now very beautiful.
Her mum is Hausa-Fulani and her dad is Hausa. Perfect combo!
My babe will now be flaunting her beauty everywhere. But today she was putting on little make up and she was looking Masha Allah
'Salma, Wanene ya yi magana da ku a cikin wannan (Who talked you into this)' I said laughing looking at her
'What, its not fine kwo? I said it. Let me just clean it' She said trying to bring out a tissue from her clutch
'Stop! You look very 'Amarya Hafiz' I said using it to tease her
I know Hafiz would be there, he is a very good friend to Ayan, Laila's fiancee and the groom. Hafiz has always liked Salma, but my babe go dey form
And she also likes him, she's just playing the hard to get.
They should even confess to each other, because me I want to go for wedding😏.
'Dan Allah, stop. It was Yasmin that forced me if not you know me' She said. Yasmin is her younger sister, my age mate.
She is suppose to come for the party but she has an exam, her final papers for the semester. She is schooling in Nile university, Abuja. A law student.
'Hm, that's how they use to say o' I said laughing
'Dan Allah, Kuna da madubi tare da ku? (Do you have mirror with you?)' I asked and she nodded
'Check my bag.' She said.
Let's just get there quickly, because I'm very hungry right now.
Good evening everyone. How are y'all?.
