Wren sat in silence on her bed, every once in awhile glancing at her phone to see if Dream had texted her.Even after George and Dream had assured her that everything would go smoothly, she was still scared shitless. And, to be fair, how could she not be?
She was about to tell Nick how she truly felt, after keeping it encompassed inside her for months. She prayed to the universe to let it go smoothly, because her future with Nick relied on this single conversation.
Her phone lit up beside her, and Wren immediately grabbed it, noticing Dream had texted her.
He's home and he's in his room.
If you're gonna call do it nowHer heart raced a million miles per minute, and she replied with a quick 'Okay', before searching through her contacts for Nick.
She hovered over his name for a moment, deeply thinking if she was making the right choice, until she finally clicked on his name and began to call him.
She put the call on speaker, her hands shaking too much to even hold the phone to her ear. She waited as each ring passed, beginning to think he might not even answer, and what she would do if he didn't.
Wren was about to end the call herself, before the ringing was cut off and she heard Sapnap's voice speak through the phone. "Wren? Hello?"
"Hey, Nick." Wren replied, barely above a whisper.
"Oh my god, it's really you." Nick sounded astonished. "I thought this was gonna be a prank or something. Are you okay?"
"I'm alright, everything's fine." Wren responded calmly. "I just took a couple mental health days."
Sapnap sighed through the phone. "Goddammit Wren, you scared the shit out of me. I'm not mad or anything, I was just scared. I thought you hated me, or something."
"No, no! Nick." Wren said sadly. "I don't hate you. I wasn't talking to anyone."
"Okay, okay." Sapnap calmed himself. "Well, are you better now. Was it because of me?"
"No, Nick." Wren steadied herself. "I don't really wanna talk about the last few days anymore?"
"I just wanna know if it was me, Wren." Sapnap said exhausted. "If it was because of what I said."
Wren sighed. "It doesn't matter anymore, we're talking now. Right?"
"Yes, but if it was-"
"I'm calling you for a reason, Nick." Wren interrupted in a hurry. "I'm not mad at you, anymore. I just need to talk to you about something else."
"Anymore?" Sapnap questioned. "So it was because of me."
"Yes." Wren replied, becoming agitated. "You were kind of a dick to me during Punz's stream, so I just needed some time away from everyone."
"But mainly from me, right?"
"Nick." Wren tried to calm herself down. "I need to talk you about something else. It's important."
"You said that." Nick said plainly. "I'm just not sure if I want to hear it."
Wren scoffed. "Why?"
"Cause I'm afraid it'll be bad." Sapnap answered honestly. "Is it?"
Wren pondered for a moment, noticing the nervousness in Sapnap's voice when he asked. Wren responded, "I'm not sure."
