Wren raced to her door, immediately unlocking it and swinging it open, hard. Before her stood Sapnap, clad in a purple hoodie and one of his famous baseball caps, smiling awkwardly at the girl. "Hey."
Wren stood there for a moment, mouth stretched open in awe. Her eyes traveled all over the boys body, practically raking in the sight of him.
He stared back at her, awkwardly waiting to see if she'd let him inside. Sapnap was just about to speak, when Wren pulled his body flush against her's for a tight hug.
She wrapped her arms around the boy tighter than she ever had, and she stuffed her face into his chest, trying to make sure she wasn't hallucinating.
"You're here." She said breathlessly, holding him tighter.
He finally put his arms around her, squeezing her just as tight. "I am."
They stayed like for a moment, before Sapnap slightly pulled away, looking behind her before asking, "Can I come in?"
Wren fully pulled away, "Yes, I'm sorry. Of course."
She stepped back, letting the boy inside before closing the door behind them. The pair stood in her entryway silently staring at each other, an awkward silence falling upon them.
"You drove here?"
"I wanted to talk to you."
The duo talked over each other, laughing at the interaction, before Sapnap gestured for Wren to go first. "You drove all the way here?"
"Yeah." Sapnap rubbed the back of his neck. "It was only four hours. It wasn't a bad drive."
"Only four hours." Wren said, stunned. "Why? How'd you even get my address?"
"Wilbur." Sapnap replied. "I called him earlier, and he texted it to me. I asked Punz first, but he said coming here was a bad idea."
"Luke is dumb." Wren shook her head, still in awe that Sapnap was in front of her. "And listen Nick, I'm sorry about-"
"Wren, wait." Sapnap interrupted her. "I came here hoping you'd hear me out. So before anything else, I need to know if you're willing to listen. If not, I'll leave and-"
"Stop." Wren interrupted Sapnap now. "I'll hear you out, I'm not going to kick you out. But, I am sorry. For everything."
"Okay." Sapnap breathed out. He looked around the room, hoping to find some place to get comfortable before the dim conversation began. "Is there anywhere we can sit?"
Wren shook her head, "I don't have a couch, but we can go sit on my bed. Or at the counter."
Sapnap nodded, and the pair made their way to the counter, taking seats next to each other. Silence filled the room once more, before Sapnap finally began to speak.
"I'm just gonna get straight into it." Sapnap looked at his hands. "I know you don't want to hear what I have to say, but I need to tell you, Wren. It's been eating me alive."
Wren half-heartedly smiled at the boy, pressing her hand to the back of his. Sapnap looked up at the girl, as she began to speak. "It's okay, Nick. You can tell me now."
Sapnap stared at the girl. "I like you, Wren."
Wren's face dropped, her eyes squinting at his confession. She went to speak, but the boy continued. "I feel the same way as you do, or did. I have for the longest time."
