Chapter 16: Legacy of Mandalore

The Phantom drops from hyperspace as they began their approach Krownest. Sabine just sighs to herself, "Welcome home." she mutters, Leo just stares at the planet. "Not sure I can even call it that anymore," he mutters to himself.

"You really think it's gonna be that bad?" Ezra asks them, "I haven't been back to Krownest since before my time at the Imperial Academy, Ezra. And I didn't exactly leave on good terms." Sabine informs him, "and I haven't been back to Mandalore when I left when I was a boy. So I don't know I I feel." Leo states.

Mako places her hand on his shoulder, he looks up at her, sighs, and places his hand over hers. "Well, maybe things have changed. They might be happy to see you." Ezra said with a positive outlook.

Leo just chuckles as did Sabine. "You don't know my family." she informs him, "I do." Rul said as they looked back at him, "Your mother is the leader of Clan Wren, Sabine. She may be with the Empire now, but I believe her true loyalty lies with Mandalore. As your clan, Leo. They are loyal to Mandalore to a fault and whoever is worthy enough for theirs." he informs them.

Leo just scoffs, "You say it like it's easy." he mutters, "Even if that were true, she thinks I'm a traitor. Leo's clan is nowhere to be seen." Sabine reminds him. "If you can convince your mother to help the rebels, all of Mandalore might follow you and the Darksaber," Rul informs her.

Her hand went to the saber on her belt. "Even if Sabine can get all of Mandalore to follow, the Toluk clan won't just follow blindly, Sabine will have to prove herself to them and show her worth," Leo informs her. "One step at a time," Kanan informs him.

"Ah, I should let them know we're coming so they don't shoot us down," Sabine informs as she pulls her hand away from her saber. Ezra just laughs. "That's funny, I... wait, you're not kidding, are you?" he asks. "Ezra, this is Mandalore, we're most likely to blow you up before we ask questions," Leo informs him.

They flew into the atmosphere as Sabine became to hail them, she spoke in Mando'a, questing permission to land. The comm chimes as a man on the end spoke back in the same language as the fed back was static, "That's not good." Leo mutters, "What happened?" Ezra asks. "They're jamming us," Sabine answers him.

Chopper chatters in a warning. "Incoming. Sounds like your family just sent out a welcoming committee." Kanan warns them, "Too late, they're already here." Mako warns, they looked out seeing as Mandalorians were flying into view.

They then fired from their jet packs, "Rockets! Rockets!" Ezra calls out as he braces himself. "I see them," Sabine said as she evades them. Then they flew in close and fired onto them. "Well, this is going great," Leo mutters as he places on the helm.

Chopper chatters at them, "Didn't you tell them who you were?" Ezra asks, "That's probably why they're firing at us." she informs him, Mako straps herself in as Leo was just laid back. They heard a thud above them "Uh-oh." Ezra spoke, Chopper tries to warn them, but was cut short as the hunters were firing at them, but stops short as he spots one aiming at him.

Another land and fired at the ship. "We've lost the main thrusters. Brace for impact!" Sabine warns him. "Oh goodie. He comes the fun part." Leo chuckles, and Mako just frowns at him.

"How is this the fun part?! We're crashing!" she snaps. The two hunters jump off the ship watching it fall. Sabine kept the wheel steady as the treeline was coming in real fast. They knocked off a few tree tops, skimming past a few of the trees.

She pulls back on the steering, straining as she did as they crashed into the snow and slam into the boulder right in front of the frozen lake. Once it settles the doors open and the rebels step off the Phantom, Sabine places on her helm as Leo rotates his shoulder.
