ALLISON walked with Daryl along the track. He was telling her about him getting out with Beth, and how she was gone.
"I'm sorry, Allison. She just—disappeared."
"It's not your fault, Daryl." She said, going to hold his hand. "Thank you for keeping her safe for the time you had with her. Can't really imagine you two together."
"Trust me, we had our fair share of fights. She talked about you a lot. You and Hershel. He was a good man." He said squeezing her hand back.
She nodded, "Yeah, I know."
"If I'm being honest, I thought you were dead. Kept telling myself you were. Thought it'd make me feel better, but it only pissed Beth off." Daryl explained.
"I thought I was dead too. The only reason I wasn't was because of Michonne. She kept me alive even when I didn't wanna be." Allison said, looking up the way to her friend.
"Beth did the same for me. We— talked about a lot. Mostly just about you, but—Do you wanna know what I did before this?" He asked.
She smiled softly and shook her head, "No."
He furrowed his eyebrows in curiousity, "Why?"
"Because it doesn't matter. I don't care if you were homeless or a millionaire. It doesn't mean shit anymore. I love you with or without it." She admitted. "Besides, Merle told me some things."
The last part she mumbled, making Daryl shoot her a look in concern. "One night in the prison, after you two came back, your shirt was messed up."
He knew where this was headed.
"You've tried to hide them from me. When you're changing, showering, whatever. I asked him about it." She said. "He told me, about your dad. Not much. Just that he.. I'm really sorry Daryl."
"Don't be. Just weird how before this I had nothing. I was nothing. Now, I have everything. Sure, it's no white picket fence dream, but I didn't care for any of that. Just wanted something to make me feel like my life at least had a little meaning. Something that didn't mean me feel like shit. Someone."
She looked up at him with kind eyes and he hesitantly met hers out of embarrassment.
When they made eye contact, Allison rubbed her free hand along his forearm since she was already holding his hand. They got a close as possible to each other because it never felt like enough.
They hoped Terminus was what it was made out to be. She wanted it to be safe and somewhere they could settle down. If she was being honest, she wanted to marry him, which sounded strange in her head.
She never thought she was gonna get married or have kids, since she was always so career driven. But, something about him made her want those things.
Daryl had ideas for what he was gonna say to her or how he was gonna ask, but he didn't want to do any of that until they were safe; until he knew she would be protected.
