"Alright love birds where are we going?" Robin poked her head between the two of us before winking at me and smiling.
"Back to the trailer park." I fiddled with my rings while still walking forward. I knew it was risky but it's the place I knew had a car.
"We just barely got out of there..." Dustin whined from behind us.
"Yeah...I know."
We walked in silence for a while before Steve spoke up. "So we're stealing someone's home?"
"Yep. No one will be looking for a trailer home. Only problem is ya know...the stealing part" I smiled at Harrington before looking back to ahead of me.
Harrington sighed before touching my shoulder "is there a way to not steal it? Like ask to borrow it?"
I laughed a little before I realized that he was serious. "No, these guys are rude as hell. They have it coming I promise."
"Okay..." Steve slowly let go of my shoulder.
If Steve was okay with touching me maybe I could...grab his hand...?
No. Munson. We must stay focused.
But it would be nice...
No. It's not the time...
As I tuned back in to my surroundings I noticed that we were back at the park.
"Okay Eds...what's the next step?" Harrington awkwardly smiled at me as my face heated up.
The nickname...he said he wouldn't use it again...it was nice. The last person to call me that...meant a lot to me...but I didn't mind that he used it as well. Not at all. I cared about him a lot as well.
"Follow me and be as quiet as possible." I whispered before scoping the area out. The back area was open as long as we didn't make any loud noises.
At the front, there was the usual couple. They were smoking cigarettes and watching their television. They were the neighbors no one really wanted. When I first moved in with my uncle they weren't accepting of me at all. It stayed that way.
I quietly opened the back window and gestured with my hand towards the opening. "Ladies first, Harrington."
Steve lightly scoffed before grabbing onto the bottom of the window doing a pull up to get to the height and diving in feet first.
"Unlock the back door please." I whisper up to the window before hearing a click.
Steve gave me a smile and gestured for us to come in.
Dustin quickly got in and took a seat at the dining table before waving to Max and patting the seat next to him.
Max rolled her eyes before sliding into the seat next to Henderson. As much as Max would hate to admit it, she valued her friendship with Dustin. You could tell by the soft smile on her face.
Nancy and Robin quickly got into the car as well. Nancy quickly taking a seat at the passengers side while Robin stood awkwardly waiting for the next step.
I rushed into the car and ducked underneath the driver's seat window so the couple wouldn't see me.
I punched the metal that was hiding the wires before shaking my hand and prying off the area that was blocking me from hot wiring it.
"I don't know if I feel comfortable with you driving, Munson." Robin blurted out from behind me.
"Oh I'm not driving. I'm just starting it. Harrington's got this...don't you big boy?" I smile up at Harrington before I hit the wires just right starting the car.
Steve's face got red as I laughed softly before throwing him into the drivers seat.
"What the hell do you think you're doing!" We hear someone yell from outside of the RV.
"Go. GO STEVE GO." Nancy yelled while slapping him on the shoulder.
Steve hurried and hit the gas pedal shooting all of us forward.
"Try to drive...safe." Robin yelled cupping her hands over her mouth to extend the sound "there's kids in the back!"
Dustin's eyebrows furrowed before shooting a glare at Robin.
"There's freshman* in the back!" Robin corrected herself before glaring back at Henderson who then nodded with approval.
Steve nodded his head before shouting back "I'm trying! It's the first time I've drove this thing!"
"You're doing great" Nancy reassured Steve before placing her hand on his forearm.
Why...is she doing that? Why is she sitting next to Steve? I mean...she has a boyfriend. I don't... Robin doesn't...obviously...
So why her? I couldn't help but watch to see what would happen next.
"Ya know..." Steve laughed slightly under his breath. "I had this dream where...I'd rent one of these for the summer and travel around the country...with my 6 tots."
"Six?!" Nancy's eyes grew wide. "That's a lot."
"Yeah well..." Steve sighed before pointing his thumb to the back. "I have experience."
Nancy slowly nodded her head before looking down and picking at her nails.
"And uh..." Steve mumbled before looking at Nancy in the corner of his eye. "You were there too."
....damn it. I couldn't watch anymore.
Every time I think me and Steve are getting somewhere and that maybe...just maybe he might feel the same...
Nancy steps in and...makes me doubt everything.
Does he even swing that way? Am I reading all of the signs wrong? The minute I open my eyes I'm wrong and assuming the wrong thing...again.
I bit the inside of my cheek before sliding down in the dining room table seat.
What I saw was undeniable. Steve was still in love with Nancy. I should just...get out of their way.
