The RV

As I hit the wires together the radio started to blast through the speakers. It had never done this before with the other hot wires. Most car rides in this RV we sat in silence.

Steve smiled at me awkwardly like I was the one who turned it on.

"Dude no it wasn't me" I slapped the radio trying to silence the song but somehow it made it even louder. "God damn it."

"Turn down the volume!" Robin yelled from the back.

"What do you think we're trying to do?!" I yelled back to her.

The music blasted so loud we could barely hear each other over our yells.

🎶 I'd like for you and I to go romancing
Say the word, your wish is my command🎶

"God Eds try to rewire the radio or something!" Steve yelled while covering his ears.

"I was never taught how to do that!" I yelled back so he would be able to hear me.

"Turn off the car then!" Nancy yelled as she walked up to the front.

I was able to turn it off successfully...but you can only Hotwire a car so many times before it got almost impossible.

"Thank god...I felt like my eardrums were going to explode" Dustin sighed as he slouched onto the chair near the back window.

"Well I have to restart the car so... we'll see how that goes...cross your fingers." I mumbled before ducking back down to the wires.

After a few minutes of nothing but sparks, I eventually got the car to start up again.

Only con? The song was still on. At least...quieter this time.

Steve sighed before scooting me over to take the driver's seat. "Just leave it on, Munson." He slowly started up the car to drive down the bumpy dirt road.

We all sat in silence as the song played out and got the end. We all sighed in relief. Maybe we'd be able to sit in silence to prepare ourselves for-

🎶 I can dim the lights and sing you songs full of sad things🎶

God damn it...is this the same song again?

"Are we on the radio Munson?" Steve raised his eyebrow towards me.

"I don't see any options to change channels! I think it's coming from a player...but I have no idea where the player would be." I mumbled while looking around.

🎶 Ooh, let me feel your heartbeat (Grow faster, faster)
Ooh, ooh, can you feel my love heat?🎶

"Dude we just barely listened to this song!" Robin complained from the back.

"I know." I sighed while looking for any sign of a player.

It eventually got to the fifth time we heard the song in a row with no success of a player anywhere in sight.

I sighed and sat down in my seat defeated.

"You gave it your best" Steve smiled at me.

"Aren't you tired of this song...?"

"I mean yeah...but we might as well lean into the torture." Steve laughed before slightly turning the dial to make it louder and singing along with the chorus.

🎶 Ooh, love, ooh, loverboy
What're you doin' tonight, hey, boy?
Write my letter
Feel much better
And use my fancy patter on the telephone🎶

I watched in amazement as Steve surprisingly hit all of the notes and danced with his hands while driving.

"How can you not hate this song after listening to it this many times?!" I laughed at him.

"Come on Eddie sing it with me!"

I sighed before I started to sing along with him. He was too cute to say no to when he acted like this.

🎶 When I'm not with you
Think of you always
(I miss those long hot summer nights) I miss you
When I'm not with you
Think of me always
Love you, love you🎶

"Everybody!" Steve yelled to the back with a smile.

The group sighed and started to sing along as well.

🎶Hey, boy, where do you get it from?
Hey, boy, where did you go?
I learned my passion
In the good old-fashioned
School of loverboys🎶

As much as I hated the repetition of the song, I wish that we could live in this moment forever. Where everyone was just laughing at how stupid of a scenario we were in.

🎶Dining at the Ritz we'll meet at nine precisely (One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine o'clock)
I will pay the bill, you taste the wine
Driving back in style in my saloon will do quite nicely
Just take me back to yours that will be fine (Come on and get it)🎶

Henderson was belting out the lines at the top of his lungs with Max laughing along at how stupid he sounded getting the lyrics wrong.

Robin and Nancy singing to each other and dancing terribly in the corner.

It was...perfect. A calm before the storm. As annoying as it was to hear the same song over and over, I wouldn't trade this moment for the world.

No way in hell I'd tell anyone that though.

🎶Ooh, love (There he goes again)
(He's my good old fashioned loverboy) Ooh, loverboy
What're you doin' tonight, hey, boy?
Everything's all right
Just hold on tight
That's because I'm a good old-fashioned (fashioned) loverboy🎶

The car came to a screeching halt as we all looked out the window to see the old abandoned Creel house with Lucas and Erica sitting on the front steps.

I guess it was time to get serious.

(A/N: this is like the beach episode in Anime like...does it advance the plot? Absolutely not. Did I write it anyways as a break before the serious stuff? For sure. That's why it doesn't have a chapter next to it. Also...hard core tortured myself listening to this song the entire time writing this so I could be tortured with them...gonna be a minute until I can hear it again 💀)
