Chapter 3

The boys and I recently got back to Australia after an exhaustingly long tour. Even though I love my job and wouldn't change it for the world, it gets incredibly annoying when everywhere you go there's people taking pictures of you.

Luke, Michael, Ashton and I all agreed when I said we should rent a flat in Rainbow Beach City to get out of Sydney. I grew up going to Rainbow Beach and the Zoo that is only a few minutes up the road from the beach.

"Your going to love the Zoo Mikey, you get to play with the animals" I said excitedly as we all piled out of our freshly renovated flat and into the white SUV.

"Even a tiger?" Luke asked

"Maybe" I said "I haven't been there in years"

"I want to kiss a bear" Ashton said making all of us look at him as though he had a third head.

"Why on earth would you want to kiss a bear?" Luke asked

"Haven't you seen those videos where people put a marshmallow in there mouth and they put there mouth up to the bears and it looks like your kissing the bear" Ashton said "it's pretty cool"

"No I haven't seen those videos" Luke said sarcastically as we pulled into a parking space.

Luckily there wasn't any paparazzi or teenage girls around, only middle aged mums with five year old kids that were looking at us weird. They were probably wondering why four teenage boys were at a Zoo meant for children, what they didn't realize was that this was the best Zoo I've ever been to and where I spent many days of my childhood with my sister Mali.

The boys and I payed for our tickets and walked inside the front gates, a million memories came flooding back to me all at once. The turtle and dolphin pools in the centre of the pavement. The huge giraffe enclosure with the feeding balcony where you can feed them.

"Calum?" Ashton said as he snapped me out of my trance.

"Sorry" I excused myself as I took a step forward.

"Come on let's feed the giraffes" Luke said as he pulled us towards the giraffes.

"Hello there big guy" I said to the giraffe as I approached it on the balcony. The guy working the giraffe section handed me a lettuce leaf as I held it out for the giraffe, he stuck out its purple tongue and snatched it away from me.

"He's cute" I commented as I took a step to the side to let Mikey take a turn.

"How do you know it's a he" Ashton said "could be a girl"

"Wow it's definitely a dude" Mikey said as he leaned over the balcony to look at the giraffes private parts closer "gosh he's got a huge dick"

"That's his tail Mikey" I said as I patted him on the back while laughing.

"Actually this giraffe is a girl, her names Layla and she is 8 years old" the man said as he over heard our conversation.

"Hello Layla" Michael said as he patted her head "I'm sorry for calling you a dude, and for confusing your tail for a penis"

"Come on mate" Ashton called as Mikey was still talking to the giraffe.

"Where do you want to go next?" I asked "the turtles?"

I turned my head toward the turtle pools and saw what I would consider the most beautiful girl I've ever seen.
