Chapter 10

Natalia's pov

I finished straightening my long blonde hair as I heard a knock on the bathroom door. I opened it to see a smiling Luke on the other side.

"Hey" Luke said "you look great"

"Thanks" I said "when did you get here?"

"A minute or so ago" He said "are you ready to go?"

"Yeah" I said as I picked up my phone from its charger and my purse from the floor.

"I thought we could just pick up some frozen yogurt and hang out" Luke said

"Sounds great" I said as we walked out the front door. I opened the passenger side to Luke's car and climbed inside.

"Does Calum ever talk about me?" I asked Luke as he gave me a funny look.

"No, why would he?" Luke asked

"I just don't think he likes me" I said

"Why would you think that?" He asked

"Just since the night I was last at your house, he has had an attitude anytime I'm around him" I said.

"I've noticed that too" Luke agreed "I don't want him being too friendly with my girl"

I felt my heart flutter at the words 'my girl'. The jealous side that Luke has been showing lately has been nothing more than a turn on for me, even if it was a little annoying at times.

"You don't want us to get along?" I asked

"Of course I want my best mates to get along with my girl, but just not too friendly. Especially Calum" Luke said as he pulled into a parking space in front of a small fro yo shop.

"What's wrong with Calum?" I asked

"Because I know he likes you" Luke said "the day I met you at the zoo, he's the one that pointed you out to me because he liked you"

"Oh" I said dumbfounded that Calum actually didn't hate me.

Luke slid his fingers through mine as we walked hand in hand inside the shop.

"Oh my gosh" the teenage worker squealed as I felt Luke's hand slip away from mine instantly "your Luke Hemmings"

"I am" Luke said as he glanced down at me.

"Are you guys like dating?" The worker asked.

"No" Luke said immediately, It made me a little sad that Luke said we weren't dating. I mean we haven't really defined our relationship yet. Maybe Luke is just waiting for me to ask.

Luke and I got our yogurt and sat down in a table outside. I looked down at my chocolate and vanilla swirl yogurt then looked back up at Luke.

"So, I've been meaning to ask you this for a while" I said breaking the silence.

"What is it?" Luke asked furrowing his bushy eyebrows.

"What are we?" I asked nervously as I waited for his answer.

"What do you mean?" Luke asked

"Well you told that girl we weren't dating" I said "are we just friends?"

"If I said we were dating it would have just made drama" Luke said

"Your not really answering my question" I said trying to laugh slightly.

"I mean I don't really want to be in an official relationship right now," Luke said as I tried to hide my frown, I really like Luke and I thought he liked me too.

"Okay" I said looking down at my lap,not knowing what else to do.

"Natalia, It's not like that," Luke said "I still really like you, I just got out of a relationship that didn't end too well and I don't want to jump into anything"

"Oh, I didn't know that sorry" I said awkwardly not wanting to make this situation even worse.

"Don't be sorry Natalia, I still want to be with you," he said "I just don't want to label anything"

"It doesn't work like that Luke, you want to be friends with benefits and I'm sorry but I'm not that type of girl" I said, I could feel my temper growing towards Luke and what he really wanted with me.

"Natalia" Luke breathed "can we not talk about this and just enjoy each other's company?"

"I-" I started to say but I saw the flash of the cashiers camera phone out of the corner of my eye, "lets just go, she's taking pictures of us. I know the last thing you want is people thinking that were together"

"That's not the last thing I want, the last thing I want is to be in a relationship with you" Luke said as he unlocked his car and climbed inside.

"Wow" I rolled my eyes.

"No I didn't mean it like that, not just specifically you, I don't want to be in a relationship with anyone"

"What your saying isn't helping this situation" I muttered.

"Why can't we just be friends like we were?" Luke asked.

"Because we were friends with benefits, and I don't want that" I said.

"What's so bad with being friends with benefits?" Luke shrugged his shoulders.

"Because I have self respect Luke, and it offends me that you would think that I'm the type of girl that would do that" I steamed, I know I'm over reacting but I don't care, ever since I was sixteen I told myself I would never have sex with someone until I was sure I could trust them.

"I'm sorry to offend you" he rolled his eyes.

"Just take me home," I muttered "or better yet I'll just call an Uber"

"What the hell is an Uber?" Luke half laughed "were in Australia not Germany"

"I know we're in Australia," I rolled my eyes back at him "it's like a taxi service but less sketchy"

"That's nice to know" he said unenthusiastically "now just get inside and I'll take you home"

Luke twisted the key and started the engine before I had time to react and began driving back towards my home.

"Look Natalia, I'm sorry if I offended you an any way but I hope we can work things out between us" he said as he pulled into the drive way.

"We live in two different worlds Luke, your a celebrity that wants to hook up with people and not be tied down to a relationship, and I understand that. I need stability in my life and I don't think being friends with benefits is going to help that situation" I said

"So what are you saying?" Luke asked.

"I'm saying you and I both know this will never work out"

"I-" he started to say but looked down at his lap "I guess your right"

"Bye Luke" I said as I opened the car door.

"Bye" I heard him say muffled through the sound of me shutting the door behind me.
