Chapter 14

Calum's pov

I grabbed my car keys from my nightstand and waited until Natalia emerged through her bedroom door wearing black yoga pants and my old sweatshirt with the band logo on it.

"Are you ready?" I asked as she rolled the sleeves up, it was cute how big my sweatshirt was on her, or maybe it was because she was quite petite.

"Yeah" she said glancing up at me still trying to roll up her right sleeve.

"Here" I said doing it for her making her cheeks redden a little, I pretended not to notice for her sake.

"Thanks" she said as we walked out front door and into my car, I turned the heat up once we got inside since it was pretty cold outside.

I turned the radio on slightly so there wouldn't be any awkward silence between the two of us.

"Do you remember how to get to my house or..." She trailed off.

"Yeah I remember" I said as I turned into her street, luckily it was a short drive.

Once we pulled into the driveway we saw that the tree had been removed and there was plastic covering the hole in the roof.

"The doors open" Natalia commented as she walked right inside.

"Wait" I called as I grabbed her upper arm and pulled her back to me.

"What?" She asked.

"There's no cars in the drive way and the door was wide open, someone could be in here" I whispered "let me go first"

"Calum it's fine" she giggled as she wandered upstairs before I got a chance to follow her I heard a high pitched scream followed by a gasp.

"Natalia!" I yelled as I sprinted up the steps to see her at the top of the steps standing completely still.

"Shh" she said as she placed her hand on my chest stopping my from walking any further "don't make any sudden movements"

"Why?" I asked as my eyes wandered around the room then landing on the small creature in the corner of the room eating out of what appears to be a potato chip bag.

"Aww it's just a baby kangaroo" I said as I walked closer "he's harmless Natalia, come here"

"Calum stop, that's a joey and they can get violent when startled" she said quietly.

"But it's so cute" I said as the creature hopped closer to me.

"Calum" Natalia warned "lets go"

"Just let me pet it" I said as I held my hand out only for the joey to jump up and kick me in the ribs causing me to fall down and gasp for air as Natalia rushed over to me but backed away as the joey thrashed it's thick tail across my manhood making me groan in pain.

"Calum!" Natalia shrieked as she ran to me and knelt down just as the animal saw her too and hopped closer.

"No!" I yelled mostly to myself and the mini kangaroo glaring violently at Natalia, I moved my body so I was I front of her as he attempted to kick me but I blocked it with my arms only for its sharp nails to dig into my skin, the kangaroo jumped over our bodies that were laying on the floor before it hopped down the steps out of our sight.

"Are you ok?" She asked me as she turned my face so I was looking at her.

"I'm fine" I said I stood up only for shooting pain to erupt in my side making me fall again but I was caught by Natalia supporting me in her tiny arms.

"Are you sure?" She asked

"No" I said "I think my rib is broken"

"Oh my gosh, I'm taking you to the hospital" she said as she helped me down the steps and out the door, luckily the joey had left the house.

I groaned as Natalia got in the drivers side of my car.

"I can drive" I insisted as she helped me into the passenger seat.

"No, you can't drive like this" she scolded as Natalia clicked my seat belt over my lap.

She started driving towards the hospital just as her phone buzzed.

"Who is it?" She asked not taking her eyes off the road.

"Someone named Mason" I said "who is this prick?"

"I work with him" She said "and he's not a prick"

"You like him?" I scoffed.

"No I don't like him, not like that anyways" she said glancing at me "why do you even care?"

"I was just wondering" I replied as we pulled into the hospital parking lot.
