Prue was deep asleep in the hospital room; she was calmer and more at peace. Voight on the other hand was raging. His kid was almost killed because of a gang wanting revenge. Voight was in a separate room as he was commanding his unit from Med, he was glad that the team were working on it, and they wanted nothing more than to catch the guys that had shot at them as well. This truly was revenge.
Outside Brett and Dawson were filling out their reports, Brett was still a bit freaked out by Voight helping the young girl, and still be there. "I wonder why Voight's still here." She whispered to Dawson.
The woman looked over as well seeing Voight on the phone talking to someone, so Dawson looked around and found Will Halstead working away, in his hand was the girl's file. "Hey Will!" Dawson called out, waving the doctor over to her and Brett.
"Dawson, Brett, what is it?" He asked clearly confused with what was going on.
"Why's Voight still here?" Dawson asked. She was blunt as hell, she wanted to know, after all the older man did try to kill Matt Casey.
Will looked over at Voight and turned to frown at the girls. "He's her guardian, adopted her and everything, and yes it's legal, he's gone through the whole process already." Will said to the pair. "Don't worry about them, worry about yourselves okay." Will continued. He had been talking to his brother a lot and learnt many things about Prudence Parker, and Will was impressed.
"Will, he tried to have Matt killed, he shouldn't be allowed to have a kid." Dawson continued.
"Gabby, no offense but that is in the past, Voight did his time, he's better now, and he's not going to hurt Prudence alright, she trusts him, so drop it." Will said firmly. "And stay away from her Gabby, she doesn't need any more trauma alright."
With that said Will walked away and over to Voight to let him know that once Prue woke up, she was good to go. But she would be more likely to cling to him, as he was a safety net to her now. Voight listened to everything Will had to say before the two went up to Prue's room, seeing her rubbing her eyes. "I'm going to pretend that what happened today was a bad dream." Prue muttered as she sat up.
"Unfortunately, it wasn't a bad dream kiddo." Voight sighed as he came to sit beside her. Will staying back to allow the pair to talk for a few moments. Prue rested her head on the older man's shoulder, sniffling. "You and me, we are going to go home, put on a movie of your choice, and just relax okay. I don't want you to overwhelm yourself okay." Voight whispered to the girl.
"I like that idea." She muttered. "Can we dress in pajamas and have fluffy blankets wrapped around us?" She questioned with wide doe like eyes.
Voight smirked and nodded his head. "Yeah, we can do that kiddo, and we can order some pizza or whatever you want okay." He whispered.
Will smiled gently watching the older man talk to Prue, she was relaxed, not a single thing about her looked like she wanted to run from him. So, he had to wonder, did Prue know what had happened in the past, or was Voight keeping it all a secret. He hoped the girl knew already; he really didn't want her to feel like she was in danger with the older man. "Hey Prue, I'm Doctor Will Halstead. Jay's brother." Will greeted the girl.
Prue studied the red head in front of her, and she felt safe, he was just like Jay. "Hi Will, Jay's told me a lot about you, I'm happy to meet you finally, wish it were better circumstances though." She giggled softly still keeping her head on Voight's shoulder.
Will grinned at the girl. "I wish the same thing, Jay hasn't stopped raving on about you to me, pretty much talks about you all the time." Will chuckled. Will soon told Prue what had happened, and she nodded listening intently. Voight signed her papers, and soon they were outside, Prue keeping close to Voight.
Outside Erin was leaning against her car waiting for the two, Voight's truck unfortunately was damaged from the gun fire. "Hey." She greeted Voight and Prue. The young brunette smiled in greeting as she slipped into the back of her car, wanting to get back to Voight's apartment straight away. Voight greeted Erin with a gentle smile as they slipped into the front of the car. Driving slowly down the street, Voight looked in the back to see Prue fast asleep, the girl still reeling from what had happened.
When Erin pulled out front, Voight opened the back car door and picked the young Parker girl up, carrying her inside as Erin unlocked all the doors. He set the young girl onto the couch and threw a blanket over her; Voight and Erin went into the kitchen softly talking to one another. Prue would snuggle deeper into the blanket as she dreamed of a world of heroes.
"Is she going to school?" Erin asked her father figure.
Voight sipped from his mug before answering the woman. "No, she's too smart for it. Also, she doesn't want to get bullied again, so she'd rather do online."
Erin hummed in understanding as she finished off her drink. "I should get going, I'll see you tomorrow." Erin said softly as Voight waved her off, the older man locking the front door. Sighing Voight rubbed his eyes as he sat at the other end of the couch, Prue's feet now on his lap as he watched the news.
"You know, today was really eventful." Prue's tiny voice muttered. Voight looked over at the girl, seeing her basically cocooned in the blanket.
"Comfortable?"
"Very." She answered as she snuggled deeper into the blanket. Prue slowly stood to her feet before shuffling to her room. "You promised pajamas and movie, so move it." She called back before going straight to her room. Voight chuckled before doing that exactly, changing into a pair of sweats and an old shirt from his training days. Joining the young girl back in the lounge the two stayed up watching Harry Potter, Prue smiling as her comfort movie played.
It really had been an eventful day.
