You groan in pain as you come to, eyes fluttering open and your hand grasping onto your side.. the side that Steve landed on as if it was a safety net.You look down to see him still out, head on your stomach and his arms draped over you, you wiggle your body and shake him awake.
"Ow," he groans himself as he slowly raises his head "You ow? Me ow!" You point to the side he's currently laying on "Sorry," Steve says sincerely as he sits up, helping you sit up as well.
You look around to spot Robin and Dustin sprawled out on the ground side by side, Dustin slowly coming to.
You look around the general vicinity in panic "Where's Will?" Your heart beats hard in your chest. Steve's head also darts around to look for Will but he's no where in sight and considering you all landed close to one and other, there's no way he would be that far away.
"Shit. The mindflayer," Steve says in realization as the two of you scramble to your feet, shaking Dustin and Robin to wake them up.
Both groaning in pain, the fall wasn't light or gentle.. there was no crash pad to land on. All of you really felt the impact all over your bodies.
So far, that's on disadvantage. Depending on how hurt everyone is, it's going to be tough to fight.
The chattering among Robin, Dustin and Steve as they talk about Will fade out, looking up from where you had all fallen from and confirming what you saw, the portal was gone.
As you look up, you feel droplets spread out across your face as they fall from the dark red sky. Feeling them run down your cheeks, your neck but the way they hit your skin.. the smell emitting from them, this isn't normal rain.
You bring your hand to your face, wiping away whatever it was that was raining down upon you. Looking at your hand, you see streaks of crimson red on it from where you had just wiped your face, you can't help but gag.
"What?" Dustin asks, looking over at you in worry "It's raining blood," you can't help but gag again. "How is that even possible?" Robin asks as she looks up to the sky "How is any of this possible?" Steve retorts with a fair point.
"So what now? We find Will? We are walking straight into a trap, all of this was one big trap." You use your arm above your head to shield yourself from the blood rain coming down from above,
"It's our only choice," Dustin says quietly as the four of you look around "I'm guessing no one has a map on how to get to the mind flayer?" Robin asks, half sarcastic as everyone shakes their head "Great," she sighs.
You squint as you look into the horizon, hearing the familiar sound of bat wings flapping in the distance. It's not a quiet sound either since there are hundreds of them flapping their wings at once, making a thunder of their own
"I thought they dropped dead," you whisper "They did," Steve says through gritted teeth as Dustin rummages through his back pack, pulling out a device that lets out high frequency sounds "Cover your ears," he warns as he turns the device on,
You watch as the bats get stunned and confused, starting to fly in zig zags and losing their sense of direction. They let out an ear piercing shriek that's much louder than the high pitched frequency itself.
"Well at least it worked.. for now." Robin is mildly impressed, everyone of you grateful that it did work as none of you had much fight in you at the moment after that fall and knew that finding Will was at the top of the list.
"I guess we.. just start walking." You say quietly, looking in every direction but not seeing anything note worthy. No Will, no mind flayer, no Vecna.. no Kas. No max, no Eddie.
