Signature

Chapter 10

      After the shootout, the leader, Robert Calter and I talk, he brings me inside their house and he said "My Queen, as you know we also don't want war, but recently when someone told us that the King will kill all the poor commoner we need to protect, fight and survive for our family. Our intention is just to live peacefully. But when my people saw your troops marching towards, we got scared and attack you, just to protect our family and people." While hearing his story, I found something odd. So, I also told him the story that was reported to me, "Is that so, but I taught you to want war against us because you don't like my ruling, I mean the King's ruling? I mean according to the report, my subordinates told me that you are plotting a rebellion because of the current ruling." 

     Robert got confused and said, "No, my queen, we support you in your every decision. You manage to stop the hundreds of years of wars in this kingdom. But looking at what is happening today, it seems that we are getting played by someone." "By who?" I asked. I was trying to understand who would plot this scheme when the people outside started to yell. "What is happening?" Robert and I go outside and saw a bunch of soldiers; it is from our kingdom. They are killing innocent people until I saw the King outside, so I run in between the people and him and shouting them to, "Stop!" All the people stop killing each other, I walk towards the King and said, "Your highness, these people do not want war, we all have a misunderstanding here. Someone is playing with us." 

      I tried to convince him, but he did not believe in me and seemed to be angry with me, "Liar, you traitor. The soldiers already told me that you abandon them and tried to kill them. You are the one who plotted this! So, you can convince these RATS, that YOU are the one who can rule this kingdom. You start this war my queen and I will give you war." The King orders the soldier to kill everybody, "Kill all of them, except the Queen, she is mine to kill." I don't understand but I have to protect myself and all the people around me. "Robert, save your family let me deal with this, I know we've just known each other for a short period of time, but I believe in your story so Go!" He was hesitating but he nodded and he tried to save all the people he can save. I fight the soldiers to their death and I try to reason with the king, "My King, I don't know why you are angry with me, but please, war isn't the answer. Please, I begged you I know you are not a bad person. You can still change your mind about this. I don't want to kill you." 

     But the King said, "No, my queen, this is why you are weak, you are too soft, but don't worry about me, because you will die before I do. I will finish what you started." I fight him with my sword and we got close to each other but when we move back. I saw blood dripping in my stomach, I got hit by the King and he said, "Are you hurt my queen? Don't worry I will finish it now." But because I cannot allow him to do something bad, I have to kill him with me. "I am sorry my King but, I think we have to die together." We run towards each other and, I decided to kill the king with tears in my eyes. My sword run through the other side of his body and I whisper in his ears, "Please forgive me, my King." Then, to my surprise, the king's face was smiling and he fall down on the ground.

     I look at my body and he did not stab me, so I kneel down and remove the sword in my hand, "My King!" I shouted. And all the soldiers and commoners look at us. They stop fighting each other and look at me holding the King, and because of my anger, I stand up and push the soldier away from the commoners saying, "This! This is what happened when you choose war over reasoning." I pointed out the King who died in my own hands, "The King died because of the sword I stab in him. I have no choice because I have to protect the people that I love, and the nation that I serve, but because of all your misunderstanding, lie, and anger. People die in your arms." 

     I then walk towards the soldier and point my finger at their chest, "Are you happy? Killing the same people, you grew up with, people who don't know how to fight?" The soldiers bow their heads and remove their helmets while the commoners throw their swords on the ground. "I know it hurts to kill someone because you have to, but if there is another way, why not do it that way? We should stop killing if it was not necessary, think, never put our emotions under the control of our minds, and fight for what we think is right. Because you will always know it is right." After my speech, an arrow was shoot in my direction, I cannot dodge it, and an arrow was already in my heart. I kneel down and I close my eyes leaving only the darkness in my sight.

      After revisiting the memory, I have here in England. I ride a cab and ask the driver to drive me to the nearest hotel. After a few minutes, we are already there, he drove me to Bretramia Hotel. I smiled at the name of the hotel and the hotel clerk greets me outside, "Hello madam, is it your first visit here in England?" he asked, then I smiled and said, "No, but I would like to revisit some old places again." Then the hotel clerk also smiles and I head inside. I go to the front desk and ask for a room, "Do you have a room for one please?" The employee said, "We have one room ma'am but do you have a reservation?" "I don't have one but, does Athena Clark, ring a bell?" I smiled at the employee who got confused, and called someone, "Excuse me ma'am I will just call my boss first." "Sure, go ahead." 

      After a few minutes, the manager came, "What is it?" "This lady, she doesn't have a reservation, but suddenly told me about Athena Clark." The manager's face changed then he looked at me again and I smiled, "Well, is there a problem sir?" I ask, then he suddenly smiles and walks towards me, "Athena Clark, welcome, this way please." He shows his hand the way I should go. But before leaving he added saying talking to his employee, "I will deal with this focus on your work." After they talk, I suddenly look at the picture and said, "The Queen looks very beautiful." and the hotel clerk who was following us said, "Yes she does." But then when we are looking at it, his face changes and got surprised.
