Her Bad Reputation (Shawn Mendes)

Chapter 2

Shawn POV

I was waiting for Justin at my locker because the guy can't keep up because he says I walk too fast. It's not my fault we were running late. I wanted to get to school on time and I can't stop thinking about Kat and how she smiled at me this morning.  There is something about her that I can't explain but I heard all the rumors about her reputation.  I know there is something more to her than just her reputation.

"Dude! Why did you leave me behind?" Justin asked, "I almost died."

"Not my fault you couldn't catch up," I told him while he was trying to catch his breath.

"Well next time wait for me to catch up to you," he said.  I just laughed and rolled my eyes at him.  I was getting my books out of my locker when I saw Kat walking with Alexa.  I couldn't stop myself from staring at her.  She was just so beautiful.  The way her straight jet black hair falls down her back, the way she walks the hallway like she owns them.  I was instantly snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Justin calling my name.

"Shawn, you ok?," he asked.

"Huh?," I said.

"You were checking out Kat again weren't you?," he said.

"No," I said but I knew he could hear the denial in my voice.

"Ok. Here's an idea, just ask her out."

"You know I can't do that.  I mean just look at her.  She's too perfect."  I told him,"Also there's no way she would go out with me."

"You never know until you try," he said. After our conversation we heard the principal telling us to go to class.  I told Justin I'll see him at lunch and I left.  

~At lunch~

I was sitting at the usual table that Justin and I sit at waiting for Justin.  He came to the table five minutes later.  He sat right next to me and started talking.

"So word on the street is Kat is throwing a party Friday night and the whole entire school is invited," he said.

"And where did you hear about this?," I asked him.

"Alexa is in my math class and she invited us. So we're going," he told me.  

"There's no way I'm going to that party," I said.

"Why? Is it because Kat is going to be there?" he asked, "I mean it is her party."

"I know that."

"Then why don't you wanna go? You've been crushing on her forever and I think this the perfect opportunity for you to ask her out."

"Ok fine I'll go to the party," I told him so he would stop begging and I knew that was the only I will be able to talk to her.
