Her Bad Reputation (Shawn Mendes)

Chapter 5

Shawn POV

~Monday~

I was waiting for Justin at my locker.  I want to tell him what happened between Kat and I but mainly I want to kill him for ditching me when I was drunk.

"Hey Mendes," he said walking up to me.

"Hey Bieber," I said back.

"What happened?," he asked.

"With what?,"

"You know with Kat."

"Oh right, that.  Just so you know I'm mad at you."

"For what?"

"You know what I mean," I told him.

"I have no idea what you are talking about," he said.

"I'm talking about ditching my drunk ass at the party."

"Right, about that I apologize for doing that. But you know I have a curfew and my mom would've killed me." He said, "anyway, tell me what happened with Kat.

I knew he was trying to change the subject because he knew that I would cuss him out for leaving me behind.

"To be honest with you, I don't really remember anything that happened that night," I said.

"Then what do you remember?," he said while we started walking to class.

"The only thing I remember is passing out and waking up in Kat's bed," I said and I immediately regretted having that phrase come out of my mouth.

"Wait, what?!!" he said, "Did you guys hook up? Oh my god! You did. I'm so proud of you. It took you long enough."

"What? No I didn't hook up with her."

"Then why did you wake up in her bed. I mean it's pretty obvious."

"We didn't hook up. I asked her that when I woke up and she told me that we didn't."

"Why?," he asked.

"She told me that she doesn't take advantage of people when they're drunk. She has more respect than that," I told him.  While we were walking I was telling Justin everything about what happened that night she took care of me and the long conversation we had.  During the conversation we were having I realized we were walking towards Kat's locker.  I stopped in my tracks then the bell rang. Justin told me he had to run to class and left me. I begged him to not leave me but he did. That was when I saw Kat walking toward me.

"Hey Shawn. So you're alive,"she said when she walked over to me.

"Yeah I am," I said while I laughed because I just remembered the joke.

"You know I was considering calling the police if I didn't see you today."

"Ha, ha very funny. Let me guess you were going to start a search party to look for me."

"Yes I was," she said.  After we talked, Kat told me that she was running late for class then left. I didn't want to be late so I went to class.  

~Lunch~

Kat POV

I sat at the usual table where Alexa and I sit waiting for Alexa to get her lunch.  After a while she sat at the table across from me with her tray in front of her.

"So what happened Friday night?," she asked.

"What are you talking about?," I asked her.

"I heard that Shawn got blackout drunk and he passed out." she said, "Did you guys hook up?"

"No we did not. You know that I don't hook up with guys when they're drunk. I have more respect than trying to take advantage of a guy when they're drunk."

"True, so what did happen?"

"I took care of him. You know I gave him water, some Advil for the headache and texted his sister to ensure her that he was ok," I told her.  I didn't want to tell her that I tripped and landed on top of him.  While we were talking, I saw Addison walking to our table.

"Speak of the devil." Alexa said, "Here comes Addison."

"Hi Alexa." Addison said while smiling at her and she turned at me and said,"hey Kat."

I heard the disgust in her voice when she said my name.  There's a reason why she doesn't like me.  In junior year, I was dating her current boyfriend Cody for a few months then we broke up.  Three months later, Cody and Addison started dating  but Cody decided that he wanted a break so he decided to get back with me because according to him I was able to give him something that Addison couldn't give him.

"The stories around this school are that you were hooking up with Cody while we were still together. Is that true?," she asked.

"I only hooked with him once and that was it." I said, "and also you guys were on a break."

"That's true but we had plans on getting back together.  Technically that means that he is still off limits," she said.

"I know what this is about," I said to her.

"What are you talking about?," she asked

"You are just jealous of the fact that I was able to give him something that you weren't able to," I said.

She gasped at my remark and said,"You were able to give him something that I was not able to give."

"Yeah."

"Look Kat, everyone in this school knows about your reputation but hooking up with a guy that has a girlfriend is really low especially for someone like you," she said with a satisfied tone in her voice.

"What is that supposed to mean?," I asked.

"Let me rephrase that for you.  You are nothing but a home wrecker, bitch, whore and a dirty little fucking slut!,"she said and grabbed the iced coffee that she was drinking and dumped it on my head.  I heard the whole entire school laughing at me as she did that.  The look on my face said everything I was shocked.  When the laughter started to die down I was trying to prevent myself from crying but I felt my eyes start to well up with tears.  I ran out of the cafeteria with tears in my eyes and made my way to the bathroom not knowing that someone was following me.
